Ever Wonder What God Has Planned for Your Life? Discover God’s Plan of Sheer Goodness at the Catechetical Institute!

We are excited to announce that, in collaboration with Bishop Williams and in support of his vision for the Diocese of Camden, Holy Child in Runnemede and All Saints in Millville will serve as a satellite site for The Saint Paul Seminary Catechetical Institute’s two-year Pillars Program, which walks participants through the Catechism of the Catholic Church as a story—from blessing to blessing.

Beginning in September 2026, students will gather on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to participate in small-group discussion and view the lectures via livestream.

Taught by some of the finest instructors in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis—including Jeff Cavins, Deacon Joe Michalak, Fr. John Klockeman, Dr. Pam Patnode, Dr. Todd Flanders, Alyssa Bormes, and others—the Pillars Program helps participants make sense of all things Catholic, deepen their faith, and discover a clear roadmap to heaven.

The program consists of four eleven-week modules, each including two in-person Saturday morning formative sessions. Applications are now being accepted through August 31, 2026, for the Class of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen beginning this fall!

What happens before seminarians become classmates?

They become brothers.

Most young men who wonder about the priesthood assume they will be doing it alone. Last week, our seminarians played volleyball on the beach together.

Every year, between the New Seminarian Welcome Mass and the Wedding of the Sea, our vocations directors take the seminarians on retreat at San Alfonso Retreat House in Long Branch. They enjoy a week set aside for prayer, study, and growing closer to God.

Once the academic year begins, it can be easy to think of seminary as a group of men taking classes and completing their assignments. That is why the Diocese of Camden makes time for retreats, outings, prayer, meals, and even games of volleyball.

“It’s easy to get the mindset of being classmates in the same program when school starts,” seminarian Domenic DeStefano said. “I think that’s where the Diocese of Camden is different. We intentionally set time aside for retreats and outings to remind ourselves that we are first and foremost brothers on the road to holiness.”

Seminary is where they receive their education and formation, but it is also where they learn to pray together, challenge one another, laugh together, and spend time with each other. Before they return to the classroom, this retreat gives them time to remember that they are brothers preparing to follow Christ together.
