Did you know that today is an Ember Day?

Ember Days are four sets of special days on the Christian Calendar, traditionally observed on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday four times a year near the beginning of each season. The church pauses for fasting and prayer, thanking God for blessings received during the past season and asking God for provision and guidance in the coming season. In particular, the church prays for those preparing for ordained ministry—deacons, priests, and bishops. Persons in the ordination process often send a letter to their Bishop, sharing updates and prayer requests.

The term “Ember” comes from Old English: ymbren, possibly derived from Latin: quatuor tempora, lit. 'the four times.’

These days are also a gentle invitation for all of us to pause and ask:
Where is God leading me?
How is God calling me to serve?

Today, we invite you to join us in praying for all who are discerning God’s call in their lives—and for all of us, that we may follow Christ with courage and love.
At Christ the King Episcopal Church-Atascocita, we believe there is a place for everyone to ask questions, grow in faith, and experience God’s love in community.

Join us for worship and fellowship this Sunday:
