MATC Need-To-Know Information
Description
Mission At The Cross is a recovery center for men of addiction offering help in establishing a relationship with Jesus Christ, breaking the chains of addiction, learning to cope with stress and pressures that can drive men to addiction, and learning a new trade or vocation through our in-house training program.
History
The Mission At The Cross was founded by Richard and Gina Headrick and a group of concerned Christian men in 2007 and opened its doors in 2008. They were shocked at the number of homeless men they had encountered around the country since the year 2000 as they were sharing God’s word at churches, motorcycle rallies and community events. In community after community, they would encounter homeless men and men of addiction looking for help, a safe place to sleep and for something to eat. Since then, the Mission has grown from a place to stay overnight to a 12-month program that helps men rebuild their lives, receive vocational for new skills and reenter society as productive citizens.
Program
The Mission offers a 12-month program where then men live on site for one year with the Mission providing lodging, clothing, meals and medical care. The residents follow a structured program immersing them in daily Bible study, church attendance, a Christian 12-step recovery program, assigned jobs and tasks, vocational training and an individualized mentoring program. Upon graduation, each resident is allowed the opportunity to secure employment and continue living on site in one of the available apartments on the third floor of the main Mission building or an apartment on the second floor of Hellfighters USA with an extended stay at the Mission with accountability and the opportunity for continued growth and strength. They also have the option of move off site to pursue employment or seek employment in any position open at the Mission or Hellfighters USA.
