Legal aid organizations in NY are struggling to hire and retain attorneys due to the inability to compete with government salaries. ILJ NY along with the New York Legal Services Coalition urges the state to act NOW to find a solution to this funding crisis for civil legal nonprofits.

The state must invest in legal aid so New Yorkers can access legal help for life's essentials like housing, income stability, and abuse prevention. Doing so will ensure liberty and justice for all and not just for those who can afford it.
