Yesterday, Rabbi Pearl had the honor of offering the blessing and keynote reflection at the dedication of Mount Sinai's new cardiology department. Drawing from Tanach, he wove togethe verses about the heart as the center of our courage and joy: "Above all else, guard your heart, for from it flow the springs of life." (Mishlei/Proverbs 4:23)

He reflected on the reasons people seek care, the sacred work of those who heal the brokenhearted, and the hope that medicine can help give people "a new heart" and renewed strength. He concluded with words that beautifully capture the mission of every cardiology team: "Let your hearts live!" (Tehilim/Psalms 69:33)

We are grateful to Mount Sinai for inviting Jewish wisdom into this meaningful celebration, reminding us that for thousands of years our tradition have spoken to both the strength of the human spirit and the resilience of the human body.

SPOTTED: Rabbi with a sash!

Ashreynu friends came out yesterday to join in this special day, marching with different organizations or watching from the bleachers: a celebration of our connection to Israel, from so many different personal angles and perspectives and politics, just to show our love for each other and our people.

What a year!

We started and ended the year with Jewish art! Our goals have always been for students to feel joy and pride in being Jewish, to feel excited to connect to their stories and history, and to be ready to be in the world as Jewish adults.

Yesterday, they explored Jewish stories and interpreted them through art, each making a small fabric square to become part of a new Torah parochet, or cover.

We'll be celebrating another amazing year of MASKIT this Shabbat - join us!

Another flower-filled Shavuot! We made the best of a rainy evening and pretended it was spring (lol) with flowers, cheesecake, and deep learning - full of debates about donkeys.

Thanks for the celebrity-status surprise challah, chock full of Jewish symbolism and hidden Shavuot treats!

Earlier this week, Rabbi Pearl joined Jewish and AAPI leaders from around Queens and beyond for "Sacred Farewells," hosted by , to explore different religious sites and cultural rituals around mourning.

It can be a tricky topic, but for clergy like Rabbi Pearl who are often close to these tough moments in the community lifecycle, it was a meaningful opportunity to share about our own traditions and learn about the meaningful practices of others.

How many Ashreynu peeps (& friends, and babies) can you spot in the crowd? Powering through the 5 Boro Bike Tour (some biked it, others had to navigate around it) and a windy morning and a very long line was all worth it for a free hot dog, some great seltzer, an on-field hora, and a sad loss for this favorite NYC team at Jewish Heritage day with the !
