O God, our hope and refuge, today we remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and all those who loved them. We are mindful of the public servants who demonstrated the greatest love of all by laying down their lives for others. Inspire in us a love for you and our neighbors and continue to remind us of your presence in these troubled times. Amen.

At the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod (SEPA), ELCA assembly in May, Bishop Penman invited congregations to reflect on a profound truth at the center of our faith: every human being bears the image of God -- Imago Dei. Starting this month, we will see, think, and wonder together about how we as a church embody this practice.
