Hey Ki here. I don't have a Women of the Bible piece to share today.
This past week I've been dealing with some pretty bad sciatic nerve pain coupled with the stresses of parenthood and decided to rest. This led me to think about how slowing down and taking it easy not only benefits us physically but spiritually as well. When we slow down, we make space to hear God more clearly, just like how Jesus often withdrew to quiet places to pray. Choosing to slow down and rest can be an act of trust; believing that God holds what we lay down and strengthens us to pick it back up.

It's okay to not have it all together all the time and it's okay to withdraw into the quiet spaces to recover and pray. God loves you when you're at your best AND when you're a hot mess.

Because at the end of the day growing takes detours and God is patient with our journey.

As I was doom scrolling Instagram the other night, I came across a screen shot of a Rebecca Simon book someone was reading and the text hit me like a ton of bricks. It was as if the words where jumping off of the page and healing the scared little girl inside of me who took on too much at much too young an age because she felt like she had no other choice.

The words hit hard and reminded me that I was never meant to do this on my own, and friends, neither were you. Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

So today, I urge you, spend some time talking to God. Word vomit all the anxiety and overwhelm out of your system onto him, because He will trade you all of that heaviness for His Peace. In a world full of noise, chaos, and never ending conflict God is just waiting for us to surrender & accept the gift of His quiet, His calm, & His peace.

You are loved and there is space for you here my friend.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO WITH WHAT GOD HAS GIVEN YOU

1 Peter 4:10 says, "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms."

God asks us to faithfully offer what He has already placed in our hands. Some of us serve by teaching, encouraging, praying, giving, singing, cooking, fixing or just quietly helping where a need is shown. No gift is too small and no act of service goes to waste; what matters is whether it is offered in love to serve Christ.

When we use our gifts and abilities to help further the mission of the church, we become a larger part of how God strengthens, comforts and build up His people. By using our talents and gifts we help further the mission here at Ashtabula First, "TO BRING THE PEOPLE TO JESUS CHRIST AND BRING JESUS CHRIST TO THE PEOPLE".

Your talent may be visible or hidden. Public or behind the scenes. All are important and a vital part of what makes the body of the church whole. Pray and ask God to show you where your gifts can bless others and then serve with joy and faithfulness.

Tonight we went for a walk and on our way back through I spotted a brown blob on a bush. At first I thought it was a weird coiled up snake 🐍 but upon further inspection we discovered it’s a Mammoth Moth.

I am in awe of God’s beautiful and wild creations. It’s moments like this that remind me God is all around us.
