Beautiful Day of Thanksgiving at St Charles Borromeo church. Praying for the 6 men who will receive the Sacrament of Holy Orders tomorrow. Praying also for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

Join us tomorrow in thanksgiving for the six new priests who will be ordained, and to pray for vocations while spending some time with our Lord in the Eucharist. Adoration will begin at 9:30AM and continue all day. The evening will conclude with night prayer and benediction at 7:30pm. Throughout the morning and afternoon there will be music and quiet time. Divine Mercy chaplet is at 3pm. Jesus is calling you to come away and spend some time with Him. Bring your family and your friends. Let your heart rest in God’s presence and you will be refreshed!

“The Priest and a Soap Maker” by Father Guency Issac, Administrator- St. Joseph the Worker, Frackville, and St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Ashland

There is a story about a priest and a soap maker who were friends. One day while taking a walk in the city, the soap maker asked his friend, “what possible good can religion be? After thousands of years of preaching goodness, truth, and peace, look at all the misery and sin in the world. If religion is supposes to be so beneficial for people, who should this be?”

For a while, the priest said nothing in reply. Shortly, they came to a school yard where some children were playing in the dirt. They were covered with dust. The priest then spoke up, “See those kids. You say that soap makes people clean, but still those children are dirty. I wonder how effective soap is after all.”

The soap maker protested, “But, Father, soap is of no value unless people use it”. Precisely, replied the priest. “And so it is with religion”. Faith and religion are empty unless we put them into practice.
