Local Unplugged.

One of the reasons we love 5th Sundays is that they remind us what worship is really about.

Years ago, Matt Redman’s church stripped everything back. No production. No performance. Just people bringing their hearts before God. Out of that season came The Heart of Worship.

That’s what Local Unplugged feels like.

A guitar. A cajón. Breakfast around tables. Kids, conversations, communion, and worship.

Just God’s people gathered around Jesus.

Church isn’t a production. It’s people.

And Sundays like this remind us how beautiful that really is.

Summer is here, and we hope it’s filled with vacations, pool days, late nights, campfires, baseball games, RIVER trips, and plenty of memories with the people you love most.

Local Christian Church is looking to connect with worship leaders and musicians who have a heart for leading people into the presence of God through simple, authentic worship.

We are currently building toward August 2026 start dates and would love to connect with people within about a 45 mile radius of Ashland, VA.

Compensation is available, and this role could potentially grow into a part time position over time.

Summer schedules can get busy with vacations, travel, and weekends away, so we wanted to make giving as simple and accessible as possible.

Whether you give in person, online, through the app, by mail, or text-to-give, thank you for continuing to invest in what God is doing through Local.

One thing people do not always realize is how much consistency matters in a church our size. Small steps of faithfulness from many people truly make a difference as we continue serving families, supporting ministry, and reaching people in our community.

'The Lord sees you' - What a powerful reminder that God is actively looking for those whose hearts are seeking Him! Just like He saw Moses turn toward the burning bush, He sees every moment of your life. No thought, word, or action goes unnoticed. He's searching for hearts that are ready to respond to His call!

Local family, as we head into Memorial Day weekend, we pause to remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. We’re grateful for the sacrifice, courage, and freedom that came at such a high cost.

Over the next 20 weeks at Local, we’re stepping into one of the most intentional teaching seasons we’ve ever had as a church, and honestly, I’m really excited about where we’re headed together.

This summer, we begin with “Summer on the Mount” as we walk through the teachings of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount.

The goal is not just information. It’s formation.

Jesus is teaching us what kingdom people actually look like and how His words shape the way we live, love, trust, forgive, and follow Him in everyday life. Then we move into “Get Real,” a series about becoming the kind of people others can actually trust. Honest people learning to follow Jesus and love like Him in real life.

This fall, we step into "This Changed Everything," built around some of the hardest words Jesus ever spoke. Not to create controversy, but because Jesus loves us too much to leave us shallow.

Over the next few months, we’ll wrestle with what it truly means to follow Jesus in our relationships, trust, identity, obedience, and everyday lives, because discipleship is not just attending church. It’s becoming people shaped by Jesus from the inside out.

And honestly, I believe God is doing something steady and meaningful at Local right now. We’re growing, learning, and becoming more rooted in Jesus together.
I genuinely cannot wait to walk through this season together.

This is why we do what we do.

Not just services.
Not just events.
People.

People finding community.
Families building friendships.
Kids growing up around faith.
Conversations around tables.
Worship under the sun.
Prayer in the middle of real life.

In a world that keeps pushing isolation, we believe people still need each other.
You need people who know your name.
People who notice when you’re hurting.
People who celebrate your wins.
People who remind you that you are not walking through life alone.

That’s what the church is supposed to be.

We are grateful for moments like this weekend that remind us church is not just something you attend. It is a community you belong to.

What a day. ☀️

Today was one of those reminders that church is more than a building or a Sunday schedule. It’s people sitting around picnic tables, worshipping under the trees, celebrating graduates, laughing with friends, kids running wild with water guns, and simply being together.

We celebrated our grads, shared a meal, worshipped outside, and slowed down long enough to actually enjoy one another. Days like this matter.

So thankful for every family, every volunteer, every conversation, and every person who showed up. This is what community looks like.
