Our regular giving has not fully covered the cost of Local’s ongoing ministry. Churches and individuals outside our church have generously helped make up that difference, and we’re grateful. As we grow, we need to carry more of that responsibility together.

We’re asking our church family to help raise an additional $15,000 by December 13, above and beyond regular giving. This offering will help meet our remaining ministry expenses for 2026 and give us some breathing room entering the new year. Continuing your regular giving matters—that supports the ministry happening each week.

We’ll also give 10% of this offering to help people in need in our community and support church planting in the United States and around the world. We want to practice generosity together, even as we work through our own needs.

This offering helps meet immediate needs. The long-term answer is a church family growing in consistent, faithful generosity. That’s why our separate 2027 Giving Commitment matters, too—it helps us plan responsibly for the year ahead.

We know families are feeling financial pressure. Please take time to pray, look at your budget, and consider what you can give. If Local is your church home, we’re asking you to consider your part in supporting the ministry we share.

We all want to get ahead. We want our hard work to matter, our efforts to be noticed, and maybe even a little recognition along the way. Nothing wrong with that. But Jesus had a very different conversation with His disciples.

In Matthew 20:20–28, James and John wanted the best seats in His kingdom. They believed in Jesus. They believed His kingdom was coming. But they still imagined themselves at its center.

We can all relate.

Jesus told them, “But among you it will be different.”

In a world that constantly tells us to get ahead, make a name for ourselves, and fight for first place, Jesus calls us to something different. Not simply doing a few good things for others, but becoming people who genuinely serve. We wrapped up our eight-week series, THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING, with a question worth carrying into the week:

What does it really mean to be first? Maybe following Jesus means we can finally stop fighting for that spot.

As we begin our new message series, ENOUGH, we're asking our Local family to pray about what generosity looks like as we head toward 2027.

We know groceries, gas, and everyday expenses are pressuring families. We understand that, and throughout this series, we'll talk honestly about those pressures, what Jesus teaches about money, and what it means to trust Him with what we have.

We're asking our church family to consider two things.

Our 2027 Giving Commitment: Take time to pray, review your budget, and talk about what you plan to give regularly next year. We're asking everyone to return their commitment by November 22, including your total planned giving, not just an increase. This helps us plan responsibly for Local's ministry and understand how much outside support we'll need in 2027.

Our Year-End Offering: Our goal is to receive $15,000 by December 13, above and beyond our regular giving. This offering will help us address the gap between our current giving and ministry expenses as we continue working toward greater financial sustainability in 2027.

And as we ask our church family to be generous, we want to practice that generosity together. We'll give 10% of this offering to help people in need in our community and support church-planting missions in the United States and around the world.

For now, we're simply asking you to pray and prepare. Look at where you are financially, talk about it as a household, and ask, "God, what would faithfulness and generosity look like for us in this season?"

Every household's situation is different, and we understand that. This isn't about comparing what one family gives to another. It's about each of us taking our next step in trusting Jesus with what He's entrusted to us.

Together, we can help Local continue moving people to love like Jesus.

Would you still follow Jesus if you knew where He was taking you?

James and John wanted seats of honor. Jesus was headed toward a cross. They were thinking about their place in His kingdom while He was teaching them what greatness in His kingdom actually meant. (Matthew 20:20–28)

It’s easy to see their misunderstanding and miss our own. We have expectations too. We want following Jesus to make life easier, bring some answers, and move things in the direction we hoped they would go. But what happens when following Him means serving someone who never thanks you? Forgiving someone you’d rather avoid? Giving up something you wanted because obedience takes you somewhere else?

That question challenges us. We have plans. We have preferences. Sometimes we want Jesus to bless the direction we've already decided to go.

Am I willing to let Him change it?

James and John had been following Jesus, but they still had some things to learn about what it meant to follow Him. In Matthew 20, they were thinking about positions of honor. Jesus was teaching them about serving others. It reminds us that following Jesus isn't about getting the position we want or having everything work out the way we expect. It's about learning to put Him first, even when He challenges what we think matters most.

Following Jesus changes more than our circumstances. He changes our priorities.

What a great Sunday at Local!

From worship together to wrapping up our eight-week series, THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING, it was a good morning to be reminded of what matters most.

Today, we talked about putting Jesus FIRST. Over the past eight weeks, we've looked at what Jesus taught, what it means to follow Him, and how those teachings challenge the way we live. Following Jesus isn't simply about adding Him to our lives. It's about allowing Him to shape every part of them.

And of course, we had a little extra fun today as our Local Kids headed home with plenty of candy! 🎃🍬

We love seeing families worship together, kids having fun, and people growing in their faith. We're grateful for everyone who joined us today and for the "Local Team" who help make Sundays at Local happen.

Everybody wants to be first. But what does Jesus have to say about that?

This Sunday at Local, we’re wrapping up our eight-week series, This Changes Everything, with one final conversation Jesus had with His disciples.

Two of His disciples wanted something pretty significant. And when Jesus responded, He challenged the way they thought about greatness, leadership, and what really matters.

And we think there’s something in this conversation for all of us.
