With a humble and broken heart, I will try by a request of my brother and by the help of the Lord to write this obituary of my loving and precious sister-in-law, Donna Faye Salyers Burke, 1944 - 2026.
Donna was born December 11, 1944, to Hurshell and Geneva Salisbury Salyers in Ashland, Kentucky, and taken to heaven on wings of love August 21, 2026 at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Daniel Burke. To this union were born three sons; David Elswick, and wife Keeley. Daniel Burke, Jr., and Donald Burke, and wife Mary, all of Ashland, Kentucky. Also left to morn her loss are three grandchildren; Curtis Burke (Anna), Eryn Burke, Isabella Elswick, Robbie Rodkey (Madison), and Jordan Rodkey (Sarah). Four great grandchildren; Haven, Caysen, Jayse, Oakley, and Maisy. A sister; Dorothy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Jo Ann Holmes, Hurshell Jr., and Frances Salyers. Donna was a member of the New Buckley Road Freewill Baptist Church for more than 20 years. She attended Brush Creek Freewill Baptist Church and Little Jewell Old Regular Baptist Church. She was a past Worthy Matron of Westwood Chapter #569 Order of Eastern Star. Donna was a loving companion to Dan and an exceptional mother to her sons. She was loved by so many, especially her grandchildren who adored her. Donna will be missed by a whole host of friends and relatives who loved her so. Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 27th, at 12:00 PM at PRESTON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME. Eastern Star services will commence at 11:45 AM. Visitation is from 10:00 AM until service time. Burial will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast. Contributions may be made in Donna’s memory to: Little Jewell Old Regular Baptist Church, 204 Kentucky Avenue, Ashland, Kentucky 41102.
