James 1:22-25 KJV ❤️— But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
These verses remind us the importance of not just listening to God's Word but actively applying it in our lives. Being a "doer" means living out our faith through actions that reflect Christ's teachings. After all we are called to be like Him. See 1 John 2:6.
Romans 10:17
[17] So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
James 2:20
[20] But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
Our faith is built up by hearing the word of God and we show our faith by our works.
It's not enough to just believe.
James 2:19 [19] Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
The difference is they are not doers of the word. They have not surrendered their lives to the lordship of Jesus Christ as we have.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:24-25
[24] Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: [25] and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
When we study the Bible, God speaks to us through it. He tells us who we are, what we’re created for, and what needs to change in our lives. What we need to do is apply it. We should look at the Bible like a road map and a mirror. We need to let it lead us and guide us into all truths and let it reflect how we should rightly live before a righteous God.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
[16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Hebrews 4:12
[12] For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
If you have really been impacted by the Gospel there are things in your life that should change and your actions should be one of them. The Bible is the living and active Word of God and is able to pe*****te the deepest parts of us if we let it. Mary, the mother of Jesus gives us the best advice in John 2:5 which says...
[5] His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. Can you guess who the servants are?
What is He telling you to do?
Why aren't you doing it?
