Our message is inspired this week by…
Vayechi or “he lived” at Genesis 47:28 – 50:26
…..and Jacob lived in the land of Egypt for 17 years…..the years of his life was 147

#12 portion of 12 readings in Genesis
#12 portion of 54 readings in Torah

39 DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS

Because Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob lived……the world was blessed
For they are the ancestors of Jesus The Christ
And because HE died……we live
And because HE lives…..we have HOPE

Blake Shelton sings a song written by John Wiggens…
Here is a line….
My oh my…you’re so good looking
But Who are you when I’m not looking
So I ask…..who are you when GOD is not looking …..
Are we making a difference in the place we are planted

Psalms-Psalms 150
Prophetic- Ezekiel Chapter 8 (message)

How do we affect our world
Do we make a difference
Change the world with mercy and love

Some things….situations….do not go away or get better….
Until we are willing to face them
And
Sometimes….we are defined by our actions…..
Jacob…wrestled with men and GOD and prevailed….and then
His name was changed to…..Israel …(Prince with GOD)
We never know what GOD is doing behind the scenes

This week ….. The Man of Zeal
The covenant of Peace

Our message this week is inspired by the Torah portion titled Pinchas or Phineas
Found at Numbers 25:10 – 30:1
The Israelites were attacked by spiritual warfare and the men began fornicating with the Moabite or Midianite women and bowing down to their gods…..this angered GOD and because of this there was a plague and when an Israelite was fornicating with a woman on the steps of the tent of meeting in front of the whole congregation….. Phineas plunged a spear through the man and woman……His passion for God and righteousness pleased GOD and the plague stopped….after 24,000 people died.
Because of this zeal or passion that Phineas had …God granted him a covenant of peace and a permanent priesthood.
Surely each of us has zeal or passion for something….imagine if it was for GOD
Zeal = devotion … love … desire …intense emotion … enthusiasm

This may be an important part of our faith walk

Revelation 3:15-16 … 15. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold (invigorating, refreshing) nor hot (healing, therapeutic); I wish that you were cold or hot. 16. So because you are lukewarm (spiritually useless), and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth [rejecting you with disgust].

Psalms-Psalms 69:5-9
Prophetic- Isaiah 59:13-17
Old Testament- Judges 14:1-20
New Testament- Matthew 8:18-34
Close- Revelation 3:14-22

Mother’s Day
Sunday Worship 11:30 AM
Prayers that everyone is safe and has minimal damages due to the storms we have had
If I failed to text you on Wednesday …. I sure do apologize.
We did not meet on Wednesday due to weather.
Remember….Ashley is leading a “lock in” for our youth….coming up June 1st at 6
And we have a senior graduating…..Emmly Hudgins … May 24 at APSU, 1 pm

Inspiration for Sundays message comes from The Torah Portion called “Chukat” or (law, constitution, ordinance, statute, legal requirement) of the red heifer …starting at Numbers 19:1 – 22:1
The Red Heifer sacrifice ….(Jesus)(Hebrews 13:11…)
Miriam Dies
Water from The Rock (Jesus) (1 Corinthians 10:1-4)
Aaron dies
The Bronze Serpent (Jesus) (John 3:11-15)
Defeating the enemies
We love to search out themes in the readings…or I do….and this weeks reading points to Jesus…they all do !
Worship, repentance, salvation, faith, grace, obedience…praise and being thankful….attitude, peace and love…..the list could go on and on….
If we take a moment to stop …..and look at the world around us……there is a lot going on and easily a tremendous amount of distractions to help us remove our eyes from Jesus….and when we do this, it seems, that we are robbed of our peace and faith.
What I received this week from the reading is….how Gods very own people turn away so quickly among miracles…. How bad attitudes can get to the best of people….negativity and obstacles and worldly events can change our perspective…..
I think the Jeremiah reading is really starting to be my favorite go to scripture…Jeremiah 15:19

And like David said….Psalms 69:9 …. For zeal for Your house has consumed me, And the [mocking] insults of those who insult You have fallen on me.
The question….how will our actions appear on the day of judgment?

Psalms-Psalms 69:18-36
Prophetic-Isaiah 2:12-22
Old Testament-1 Kings 18:1-40
New testament-Titus 2:11-15
John 9:24-41
Close-Revelation 2:1-7

I can’t wait until I get to heaven and tell GOD how “so and so” treated me …….

The truth is….. God may be asking me how I treated them…..

It makes a difference my friends , how we treat one another.

Be a peacemaker
Be merciful
Be a person that forgives
Be a lover
Know God and follow Jesus
Get intimate with HIS Word

Eternity is a long long time

March 31,2024 … Easter Sunday (Bart Pemberton to speak)

Our message this week is inspired by a Hebrew Word found at Leviticus 9:1, Shmini or eighth day
As we read the text in Leviticus (9:1 – 11:47), The two priest Nabad and Abihu certainly stand out as they decided to go against God’s instruction and bring a “strange” fire to the altar…..They were burned to a crisp
Maybe we should consider what they did that constituted a death sentence…..we can sure assume what the brothers did or did not do … but the scripture makes it pretty plain…. They disobeyed God and disrespected HIS Word…and that’s not all…
“This is what the LORD said: ‘I will be treated as holy by those who approach Me,
And before all the people I will be honored.’”
1 Corinthians 6:20 …. You were bought with a price [you were actually purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body.

Brother Bart Pemberton is delivering the message Sunday, based on Mark 7:1-8
Traditions !
If you can and are willing, invite folks to join us
Lets have a party !

Pastor thoughts …… “Vayakhel” or “and he assembled” …. At Exodus 35:1 – 38:20
Exodus 35:1 ….. Moses gathered all the congregation of the sons of Israel together, and said to them, “These are the things which the LORD has commanded you to do
We all are creatures of habit and we love to be told what to do…even when we cant stand to be told what to do….. It is evident in our traditions of worship……sometimes we follow religious tradition even when that tradition goes against what GOD commands us to do …… The worldly things love to disguise itself into things that look “right and godly” …..
The life of Jesus when HE walked among religious folks reflects these examples well……
I am not sure about the people…..but for me….i ask myself…..what am I following….am I seeking The Kingdom of God in my walk or am I satisfying the traditions of men?
Come and worship with us and bring a friend or a stranger

Psalms-Psalms 119:25-32
Prophetic- Isaiah 1:10-20
Old Testament- Exodus 35:1
New Testament- Brother Bart Pemberton Chose:

Our message this week is inspired by The Hebrew Word “Tetzaveh” or “command”.
Found at Exodus 27:30 – 30:10

Exodus 27:30 ….. And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil of pressed olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.

So I guess the obvious theme of this week may be:
Do not let your light go out?
Keep the fire burning?
What do we use for fuel?
The more pure the fuel….the brighter the light?
They had to keep these lamps burning for 40 years…they was in the desert…..where did they find that much oil?
GOD PROVIDES !
The message could sure continue from last weeks…..when we spoke of our temple…how do we take care of our temple….
Same this week…..what are we feeding our minds and bodies as fuel to keep our light shining.
Are we feeding our souls with good thoughts? Positive thoughts or negative thoughts? Constructive thoughts or destructive thoughts?
Biblical thoughts and themes or worldly thoughts and themes?
Are we influencers of faith and Gods Kingdom or are we being influenced by the world?

Proverbs 13:20 …. Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

Psalms- Psalms 101:1-8
Prophetic- Daniel 12:1-4
Old Testament- Ezra 9:1-15 & 10:1-4
New Testament- Matthew 5:13-16
Close- Romans 12

Found at Exodus 25:1 – 27:19
“Tell the children of Israel to take an offering for Me. From every man whose heart moves him [to give willingly] you shall take My offering……… Have them build a sanctuary for Me, so that I may dwell among them.”

1 Corinthians 3:16 …… Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?

How is your Temple ?

This weeks message is inspired by The Hebrew word found at Exodus 13:17 … “Beshalach” or “when he let go”
The one that holds captive the people of GOD…..let go…..and the people were delivered !
They called on GOD…believed in GOD…obeyed GOD…and followed GOD
And for us today…we are about to celebrate the birth of our savior….Jesus The Christ….. what a gift !!!!
We have to believe…we have to obey…we have to follow…and we receive the gift of GRACE and salvation

Psalms-Psalms 50:7-15
Prophetic-Isaiah 54:14-17
Old Testament-2 Samuel 22:1-7

December 24 Christmas Eve Service

Our message this week is inspired by The Hebrew Word “Bo” at Exodus 10:1 – 13:16
This translates to the English word…..”go” or “enter”
1Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials, that I may perform these miraculous signs of Mine among them, 2and that you may tell your children and grandchildren how severely I dealt with the Egyptians when I performed miraculous signs among them, so that all of you may know that I am the LORD.”

Are we willing….obedient…..when God calls, are we willing to go or enter into service….even when we may face challenges.
Most of us have not seen a burning bush with The Presence of GOD ….. but we do have HIS Word through Jesus….and what do Jesus send us to do?
Matthew 28:18-20 ….. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
And maybe we do not feel “called” to travel the world making disciples……but….BUT …. There are plenty of folks that are local and within reach of us right here in middle Tennessee….. are we willing to introduce folks to Jesus…are we willing to follow or go where HE sends us

Psalms- Psalms 144
Prophetic- Jeremiah 10
Old Testament- Malachi 3:13-18
New Testament- Matthew 26:36-56
