Take 1 day this week to highlight these 2 things and spend 3 minutes talking about them: Draw a picture of a donkey with your preschoolers.
💭 Ask, “How can a donkey remind us about Jesus?” Tell your preschoolers that people celebrated when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey because they had hope God would send Someone to save them. We can also have hope when we trust and follow Jesus because He loves us and promises that we can live with Him forever.

This week we celebrated Hooray Day, a special day where we celebrate God! This Hooray Day was a BIG celebration, because we learned about when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. This day is often called “Palm Sunday.” People had been waiting and hoping that God would send His promised Savior. They celebrated Jesus by laying down clothing and palm branches and shouting, “Hosanna!” which means, “Save us!” Like the people in Jerusalem had hope, we can have hope that Jesus will return one day and make everything new. Ask your preschoolers what they are looking forward to when they start elementary school. Share that we can be excited for new things, but we can also be excited, have hope, and know for sure that something good is coming because Jesus promised to return so one day we can live with Him forever.

Take time today to pray as a family, talking and listening to God. Pray these four things:
1. Thank God that He makes the way for us to know Him and have a friendship with Him through Jesus.
2. Ask God to help you remember that He is holy, never changes, is just and kind, and is wise.
3. Pray for one another that you can remember God’s kindness this week.
4. Choose one or two other people to pray for—that they would know, trust, and follow God too.

Take 1 day this week to highlight these 2 things and spend 3 minutes talking about them: Go out at night and look at the stars. Ask, “Who made the stars?” Share that God made the stars, like He made everything, and He is very big and wise. Tell your preschoolers that we can always trust and follow God because He is wise and knows everything.

Preschoolers learned this week that God is wise. In Daniel 2, a king had a strange dream and wanted someone to both tell him the dream and what it meant. A man who loved God named Daniel pointed out that only God could do something like that. Daniel asked God for wisdom, and God helped Daniel know and interpret the dream. Like Daniel, preschoolers can look to God for wisdom and trust Him because He is wise. Pray to start the day with your preschoolers, asking God to help you know and follow His wisdom by knowing and doing what is right.

Make a rainbow craft with your preschoolers using craft materials you have on hand–crayons (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet) on paper, paint on paper plates, or even tissue paper pieces stuck to the sticky side of clear contact plastic. As you make and hang up your rainbow craft, share that rainbows remind us of God’s promise to never flood the earth again. God is just when He punishes sin, but He also shows that He is kind when He offers to rescue us from sin through Jesus.

Take 1 day this week to highlight these 2 things and spend 3 minutes talking about them: If you have rainy weather, look for a rainbow. If not, make a rainbow by filling a glass with water, placing it on white paper, and shining a flashlight through the glass. Talk about the colors you see, you should be able to see, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet! Ask your preschoolers, “What can we remember about God when we see a rainbow?” Share that God is just when He punishes sin, but He is also kind because He rescues us through Jesus.

Yesterday, preschoolers learned that God is both just and kind. God is just, and always does what is right, and He is also kind, and chooses to do what is loving. From the story of Noah and the flood, we see that God was just to destroy the earth, and everything in it, because of the evil and wickedness in people. But God was also kind to rescue Noah, his family, and many of the animals, so they could begin again to fill the earth. Preschoolers learned God is just (always does what is right), and He is kind (always does what is loving and helpful). God is just in punishing our sin and kind in sending Jesus to take the punishment we deserve. When your preschoolers struggle or get upset over something they think is unfair, use this as a time to point out how we can trust that God will always do what is just and right but also what is both kind and helpful.
