It was my children's first day back to school after a two-week holiday break. The school bus was due to pull up to the corner in four minutes. My daughters were doing their last-minute gathering of shoes, coats, water bottles, and lunches.

Hey Baby. Tomorrow is a big day. Third Grade – wow. Chase – When I was in third grade, there was a little boy in my class named Adam. Adam looked a little different and he wore funny clothes and sometimes he even smelled a little bit. Adam didn’t smile. He hung his head low and he never looked...

Trail Marks conversations are opportunities for ministers and parents/caregivers to meet to share hopes and dreams, tell stories, and discover ways we can partner with one another for the spiritual development of families.

Contact Casey Callahan or Tommy Bratton to set up a conversation. These conversations are fun and encouraging so don't be afraid. And summer is a great time to share these times together.

If you had a conversation a couple of years ago, it is probably time for another. Kids change and grow quickly.

Enjoy this song by Balsam Range about stacking up the rocks, which is the model of this ministry. We collect stones to remind us of the good times and bad and to know that God was with us and for us through it all.

Ranch Radio's gospel tune this Sunday is Stacking Up Rocks by Balsam Range. The cut is on their 2014 CD Five. The Westerner http://thewesterner.blogspot.com/

For Modern Sacred Family this evening, we will not have a leader. Instead, I want to encourage the spiritual practice of hanging out. I am attaching a blog post I wrote a couple of years ago. I think it still a good idea. Enjoy one another. Laugh. Tell stories. Relax.

Don’t just sit there, do something! is the mantra for the busy life we lead. I have had several conversations with people who carry around a "to do" list in their heads at all times and feel guilty...

Years ago, near President’s Day, some of the kids in our church’s Childhood Development Center made newsprint posters which bore the heading, "If I were president, I would. . . ." With the help of their teachers, the children imagined what they would do if they held the highest office in the land. …

: The children opened the plastic eggs, and they were all empty!

"See, kids, because the tomb was empty."

They all wept with understanding.
