Your conference Creation Care Ministry team is offering two events to get 2025 off to a good start. We hope you’ll join us!
We are holding a workshop as part of the Equip and Connect Conference, and we invite you to attend this session entitled “Moving into Harmony with God’s Creation” offered on Sunday, January 26th online from 7 to 8pm. Register here: https://www.wnccumc.org/equip-connect-2025. At this session we will explain more about ways to begin and expand a Creation Care/Green Team at your church. Church Creation Care Coordinators would definitely benefit from this workshop.
Registration is now open for a Creation Care Ministry Workshop entitled "Connecting to Creation" on March 1st. This workshop will be led by Heather Bennett, Director for Blessed Earth Tennessee, the first state level affiliate of the widely known ministry Blessed Earth, founded by Dr. Matthew Sleeth (author of Serve God, Save the Planet; Reforesting Faith: What Trees Teach Us about the Nature of God and His Love for Us; The Gospel According to the Earth: Why the Good Book is a Green Book, and more.)
In this workshop we will talk about Biomimicry and Eco Theology. Biomimicry is the practice of learning from nature (creation) and imitating its systems and processes to create sustainable solutions to human problems. Through this lens we will talk about how we can live out our Christian faith more fully when we are connected to creation. It will also be a wonderful opportunity to network with others interested in caring for creation!
Location: Harrison UMC, Pineville, NC
Date/Time: Saturday, March 1, 2025, 9:30 am - 2:30 pm
Cost: $25 per person (includes lunch) or $20 per person (group rate) if 5 or more register from your group

About the Leader: Heather earned her Master of Science in Sustainability in 2014 and Master of Arts in Practical Theology in 2023. As part of her studies, she has immersed herself in studying Biomimicry and the connection with Theology. She lives in Tennessee with her UMC clergy spouse, son, and puppy.
