At Pentecost, the miracle was not only that people spoke in new languages. The miracle was also that people heard the goodness of God in the language that reached them personally.
Their own language. Their own frame of reference. Their own lived experience.
God does not erase the particulars of who we are in order to reach us. The Spirit meets us with grace that can be heard, received, and understood. What might God be helping you hear today?

Sometimes life shifts so suddenly that all we know to ask is, What does this mean?
Pentecost reminds us that faith does not require us to pretend we already understand. The crowd witnessed the movement of God and still had questions. Their questions were not evidence of failure; they were the beginning of deeper participation.
At Covenant, you do not have to carry your questions alone. There is room here for wondering, wrestling, waiting, and trusting. Faith grows in the space between the wondering and the knowing.

Saturday Shoutout to Covenant’s lay leader and Fairview Elementary’s amazing kindergarten teacher, Dana Satterfield. Help us give her some love.

People can survive a lot when they know they are not alone.
We can carry sorrow when someone carries it with us.
We can face fear when someone stays near.
We can endure confusion when someone notices.
Unity is not just church language. It is life-giving language.
Hope-giving language. Stay-near-to-one-another language.

James and John thought being near Jesus meant being above others.
And honestly? The church still falls for that same trap.
We confuse intimacy with Jesus for superiority over others.
We think being closer means knowing more, being more right, having the sharper argument.
But Jesus says, “You do not know what you are asking.”
Closeness to Jesus is not about status.
It’s about service. Not about rank. About love.
