It’s that time of year when we set up impossible tasks and crushing deadlines. We are living in a very difficult time. Maybe the greatest gift we could get to ourselves and each other this year is to slow down… take the time to notice and recognize someone else for the good they do and acknowledge the troubles they may be going through and extend the gift of unconditional love! Allowing ourselves to become overwhelmed only breeds frustration that often turns to anger. This is not the season for anger… it’s the season to be filled with joy and light and love.
I’d like to extend a very joyous Hanukkah to all my Jewish friends! Yours is the festival of light that needs to be ignited in the hearts of everyone around the world. I hope to join Rabbi David, Degani, and his lovely wife, Cantor Lee from Shirat Shalom in the lighting of the first candle. Many blessings to all my friends!
And of course a very Merry Christmas to all my fellow Christians who celebrate the birth of our King. Remember, He started out as an innocent child who ended up sacrificing his life. Do we think that our lives, our journey here is going to be any easier? Fill your hearts and minds with the joy of the season, wrap it up with as much love as you can gather and give it away as a gift!
