Are you facing difficulties in life? Sickness, defeat, financial loss, divorce, loss of a loved one, cancer, depression, anxiety, or anything that is consuming your life? Who isn’t?

When we read 2 Chronicles 20:1-30, we see that 3 mighty nations joined together to defeat Jehoshaphat, King of Judah (the southern kingdom). Seeking the LORD and His wisdom, Jehoshaphat called for a fast throughout Judah. Through Prophet Jahaziel, God told Jehoshaphat, and the people of Judah and Jerusalem , [15] “Do not be afraid nor dismay because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.[16] Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel. [17] You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”

Do you see that?? Do you see what others people or situations will do to you and what you need to do?

God did not say to sit on their couches and eat potato chips. God said to face that fear. Let whatever situation you face come. Let them rage. Let them think they are big. You show up, position yourselves and stand still. Not mocking them or throwing back insults. We are to show up, stand still, and watch God move!! There are so many good things to pull out of these 30 verses but I want you to know that the battle you are facing is not yours to fight! It is God’s. Let Him fight it in your stead. He does a much better job than we could ever imagine doing on our own.

Just to tell you the results of the battle, God set ambushes among the 3 kingdoms that were against Jehoshaphat and they ended up battling and killing each other. It took Judah 3 days to plunder the spoils. Not only did God fight their battles but He also gave them physical blessings to carry back.

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. (John 15:18-19)

This one was another request - wanting to show this passage illustrated. This was from a student who feels their faith is under attack by their professors and fellow classmates. Colleges and universities can be a scary place for Christians, especially if this is their first time leaving home and "in the world".

While the Bible does not offer any promises about being able to avoid being hated by the world, Jesus does assure us that this hate is ultimately directed at Him. The good news is that we are not of the world, and we belong instead to the family of God.

I hope this image is an encouragement to you, and please keep sending those ideas in!

Every knee shall bow.

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” (Luke 2:10)

There is nothing greater than the birth of Jesus, which many are celebrating this month. The angels declared that His arrival is news of great joy for all the earth. Not presents, not traditions, not family dinners, not decorations, not Santa Clauses, not reindeer, and not even a festival of lights will ever compare to the Light of the World. These things are not where we get our joy from.

Additionally, the Bible tells that us that ultimately all of these secondary things will bow at the very name of Jesus. Everyone and everything will submit to His authority and His will. “Jesus is Lord” will be the unifying cry of all creation.

May you be reminded Jesus alone is our source of joy this Christmas season, and always. So for this image, I hope that it is an encouragement to always look to Christ and celebrate His incarnation. I pray that nothing gets in our way, distracts us, or tries to steal the joy we can have in Christ.

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue. (Philippians 2:10-11)
