Today is Palm Sunday which marks the beginning of Holy Week. We rejoiced with the crowds as Jesus entered the city of Jerusalem, waving palms and shouting “Hosanna!” Over the years, this week has been considered the most important and holy time in the life of the church—especially what is known as the “Triduum” — or Great Three Days — of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter morning.

Maundy Thursday takes its name from the Latin word for “commandment,” as we remember when Jesus told his disciples, “A new commandment I give to you: Love one another.” Come to worship at 7:00 pm. At the end of this service, the altar is stripped, and we leave in silence in preparation for Good Friday.

Good Friday commemorates the day Jesus gave his life to save us from our sins. It is a very humbling service as we contemplate the cost He paid for our redemption. Join us at 7:00 pm for a service of music and scripture.

Last Sunday, we helped kick off Lutheran Schools Week with a Chapel at Church-themed service!

We invited all of our teachers and our Open Arms families, and the response was amazing! We had way more people than we expected, and, isn't that a great problem to have?! The super-charged, chapel-based service had lots of fun music, complete with all the motions our kids love, a chapel message, and even noisy offering. Afterward, we headed outside to enjoy time together while the kids jumped and played in the moonbounces. Everyone had a great time. We can't wait to do it again!

Next week is Lutheran Schools Week, and we are holding a very special 9:30 am worship service tomorrow, March 3rd.

Our students go to chapel every week where they sing fun songs, hear a Bible story message, pray, and give their "noisy" offerings. Chapel is a highlight for many of our kids, so on this Sunday, our 9:30 am service will be run just like a "chapel" service. Many of our Open Arms students are excited to bring their parents to chapel with them, and we hope all will enjoy this experience too! After the service, we will have moon bounces, a food truck, and lots of fun!!!

We invite you to join us this week for our Ash Wednesday service, which marks the beginning of the season of Lent. We will offer Holy Communion and Imposition of Ashes at 7:00 pm.

If you are unable to attend our evening service and want to receive ashes, you can stop in beginning at 8:00 am. Pastor John will be available via the Church Office and school entrance next to the horse statue.

Last night at HS Youth Group, our students prayed through the petitions of The Lord's Prayer at experiential prayer stations.

This was one way our 9th grade students were able to review what they learned in confirmation and to prepare them for Confirmation Sunday coming on Reformation Sunday.

1 - A Volunteer Fair is being held between all services: Find a new small group or ministry to join!
2 - Social Ministry is collecting non-perishable food for Loudoun Hunger Relief: Drop off items to support those in our community who need assistance.
3 - Our Congregational Voters' Meeting and Call Service will be at 2pm: Join your fellow members as we make decisions about the future of OSWLC.

A team from Our Savior’s Way will be traveling to Kenya from April 5th to April 19th to share the Gospel and serve at Mustard Seed House. There will be two boxes in the narthex: one for the Philadelphia Eagles and one for the Kansas City Chiefs. Place your canned goods in the box of the team you want to win the Super Bowl and then stay tuned to see which teams' fans come out on top in this contest!

Ladies! Join us next weekend for our Sew & Serve event!

The Women's Ministry Council and the Social Ministry Team invite you to a day of Sewing and Service on Saturday, February 11th.
Service projects include making sheets for the cots at our Open Arms Preschool, flannel blankets for the local pregnancy center, and fleece blankets for Project Linus. Together, we will enjoy fellowship as we stitch, cut, iron, and tie these much-needed items for donation. All materials are provided; however, if you have a favorite pair of good-quality scissors, feel free to bring them to use. No experience is necessary as there will be many different roles. Girls ages 12 and up are welcome if accompanied by a participating adult.

Two shifts are available: 10:00 am until 12:00 pm or 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Feel free to volunteer for both! Lunch will be provided.

RSVP by Monday, February 6th by going to oswlc.org/Sew&Serve to pick your shift.
