Amazing Love Ministries

Amazing Love Ministries A Progressive Christian Church, founded by Rev. Samuel Lopez. A Church that truly welcomes ALL People. All are welcome, honored, loved, and served at our table.

Its mission is demonstrating Love, Acceptance, Forgiveness, and Grace. The church champions social justice and radical inclusivity. Founded by Pastor Samuel Lopez this congregation affirms and promotes the full participation of persons in our activities and endeavors, including membership, programming, and the calling of clergy without regard to gender, affectional or sexual orientation, race, eth

nicity, nationality, religion, physical or mental challenge or economic circumstance. We are entirely, unequivocally, and unapologetically progressive and inclusive. Our Mission is to live in love, acceptance, forgiveness, and compassion for all. Our Pastor, Rev. Samuel Lopez, is Ordained Ministers with the Progressive Christian Alliance. As a church, we are affiliated with and stand by the Mission Statement of the Progressive Christian Alliance:

"The Progressive Christian Alliance maintains a focus on social justice. We believe that the gospel of Christ calls us to minister to the last, the lost, the least, and the left-out of society. We respect theological diversity. Faith is not about concrete answers, religious absolutes, creeds, or dogma. Faith is about the search for understanding, the raising of important questions, the open honesty of having doubt, and the realization that no one has it all completely right nor does any human hold all the answers. We seek to follow the advice found in 1 Thessalonians 5:21, which is to “seek truth out in all things and hold firmly onto that which is good.” Religious absolutes of dogma, legalism, and strict doctrine become stumbling blocks and “litmus tests” for who is “in” and who is “out” of the circle of God’s grace. These false tests that Jesus never required get in the way of truly following Jesus and his teachings. We affirm the dignity of all of God’s children and invite them to participate fully in the life of the church."

MORNING PRAYER

O Lord, let my soul rise up to meet you
as the day rises to meet the sun.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever.
Amen.

Come, let us bow down and bend the knee : let us kneel before the LORDour Maker.

We Are Marching in the Light of God!!

Send your light to guide us : may we follow wherever it leads.

-SCRIPTURE
“Give judgment for me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people : deliver me from the deceitful and the wicked.
For you are the God of my strength; why have you put me from you? : and why do I go so heavily while the enemy oppresses me?
Send out your light and your truth, that they may lead me : and bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling;
that I may go to the altar of God, to the God of my joy and gladness : and on the harp I will give thanks to you, O God my God.”
- Psalm 43:1-4

Send your light to guide us : may we follow wherever it leads.

-Morning Prayer

Lord, we know the importance of doing for others. Teach us the importance of being for others, that we might take time to fast and pray and dwell with you in order to see more clearly how your light illuminates the faces of those we struggle alongside for justice.
Amen.

“You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.”
— Psalm 23:5a NIV

“This is not the verse I first go to in this well-known psalm. Initially it doesn’t seem all that comforting. And yet, it is an affirmation that no matter what is going on around us God’s generous provision is there. There may be times I suspect we would rather run away and hide, but it is almost like God is calling us out into the open, right in the middle of the hard. We may want an escape route, but God offers presence and lavish hospitality.”
~ Sue Fulmore

NOW GO AND DO…

Maybe this is our invitation, when life gets difficult and we are tempted to exhaust ourselves in our attempts to fix things, to sit down and rest. To partake in the provision before us. Take a moment and identify the provision that is right in front of you today.

O Lord, let my soul rise up to meet you
as the day rises to meet the sun.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever.
Amen.

Come, let us sing to the LORD: let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Glory Glory Hallelujah!

Humble us in your presence, Lord : that we may delight in abundance of peace.

~SCRIPTURE~

“You’re familiar with the old written law, ‘Love your friend,’ and its unwritten companion, ‘Hate your enemy.’ I’m challenging that. I’m telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the supple moves of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves. This is what God does. He gives his best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty. If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that. If you simply say hello to those who greet you, do you expect a medal? Any run-of-the-mill sinner does that.”

“In a word, what I’m saying is, Grow up. You’re kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.”
~ Matthew 5:43-48, The Message

Mechthild of Magdeburg, a thirteenth-century mystic, wrote, “What hinders spiritual people most of all from complete perfection is that they pay so little attention to small sins. I tell you in truth: when I hold back a smile which would harm no one, or have a sourness in my heart which I tell to no one, or feel some impatience with my own pain, then my soul becomes so dark and my heart so cold that I must weep greatly and lament pitiably and yearn greatly and humbly confess all my lack of virtue.”

~ Pray the Lord’s Prayer

Thank you, Lord, that no sin is too small to bring the conviction of heart that may lead us to repentance and more faithful living. Convict us of our smallest sins so we might learn to delight in your ways.
Amen.

MORNING PRAYER

To the faithful you show yourself faithful : may we keep faith when trust is broken.

English priest C. F. Andrews, who was called Deenabandhu (Friend of the Poor) by the Indians among whom he served, said this: “Christ seeks from us deeds not words. Devotion to him is in the first place not sentimental but practical. If the Christian faith has no power to restore or recreate the human will, leading one to deeds of unselfish service, then it stands self-condemned.”

~ Pray the Lord’s Prayer

Lord, keep us from following a faith that awaits peace in heaven. You are our peace, and you are always with us. May your peace come and your will be done on earth, as indeed it is in heaven.
Amen.

“Wake up, you sleepyhead city!
Wake up, you sleepyhead people!
King-Glory is ready to enter.
Who is this King-Glory?
God, armed
and battle-ready.
Wake up, you sleepyhead city!
Wake up, you sleepyhead people!
King-Glory is ready to enter.
Who is this King-Glory?
God-of-the-Angel-Armies:
he is King-Glory.”
~ Psalm 24:7-10, The Message

In his bookWith Open Hands, Henri Nouwen wrote, “In another’s eyes I see my plea for forgiveness, and in a hardened frown I see my refusal. When someone murders, I know that I too could have done that, and when someone gives birth, I know that I am capable of that as well. In the depths of my being, I meet my fellow humans with whom I share love and have life and death.”

Holy One, strengthen us with the joy of all those saints who have gone before us, that like them we might stand up to the powers that threaten your kingdom.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever.
Amen.

Come, let us sing to the LORD: let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.

Praise to the Lord Almighty!

You, and you alone, are Lord : our good above all others.

Protect me, O God, for I take refuge in you : I have said to the LORD, “You are my Lord, my good above all other.”
All my delight is upon the godly that are in the land : upon those who are noble among the people.
But those who run after other gods : shall have their troubles multiplied.
Their libations of blood I will not offer : nor take the names of their gods upon my lips.
~ Psalm 16:1-4

You, and you alone, are Lord : our good above all others.

Alphonsus Liguori, eighteenth-century founder of the Redemptorists, wrote, “Persecutions are to the works of God what the frosts of the winter are to plants; far from destroying them, they help them to strike their roots deep in the soil and make them more full of life.”

~Morning Prayer~
Lord, where your church is weak through comfort, strengthen us through the necessary trials. Where your church is invisible through fear, make your word known through the boldness of prophets and through the courage of ordinary people like us. Amen.

~ SCRIPTURE~
“Have pity on me, O LORD: see the misery I suffer from those who hate me, O you who lift me up from the gate of death;
so that I may tell of all your praises and rejoice in your salvation : in the gates of the city of Zion.
The ungodly have fallen into the pit they dug : and in the snare they set is their own foot caught.
Rise up, O LORD, let not the ungodly have the upper hand : let them be judged before you.
Put fear upon them, O LORD: let the ungodly know they are but mortal.”
~ Psalm 9:13 - 15, 19 - 20

Jean Vanier, founder of the L’Arche communities, said, “Jesus came to bring the good news to the poor, not to those who serve the poor! I think we can only truly experience the presence of God, meet Jesus, receive the good news, in and through our own poverty, because the kingdom of God belongs to the poor, the poor in spirit, the poor who are crying out for love.”

~ MORNING PRAYER~
Lord, even the seraphim and cherubim hide their faces in your presence as they declare your praise. Help us mere mortals to humbly dethrone ourselves and bow before you, that in our weakness we might know your good news and forever sing your glory.
Amen.
