An American Red Cross blood drive sponsored by the Arthur Ministerial Association and The Arthur Lions Club will be held in the Arthur community on Tuesday, June 30, from 1:00pm-6:00pm at the Arthur United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 128 East Illinois Street, Arthur, IL. The Red Cross is asking all donors to call and/or register this time instead of just walking in if possible. Walk-ins will be accepted but the wait might be longer. One car accident victim can use as many as 100 units of blood. Be the lifeline patients need. Give blood and give life. Here is everyone that helped Renie Willoughby celebrate her 95th birthday. Attending Renie’s celebration were Becky Harrer, Linda Keiss, Deb Wilson, Marilyn Watkins, Ann Singer, Pastor Alex, Judy Kondrup and Beth Jones.
Jo Watkins made the cupcakes (they were delicious!) and provided the party supplies. Thanks Jo!

It will soon be time to begin our Free Friday Market. Our start date as it stands now is Friday July 10. There are some new challenges we face this year. The first is that we will have to pick up the produce that normally would be delivered to our back door. This will entail someone going to the produce auction house on Friday at noon and loading the produce to bring to the church. We also buy some basic items from our local grocery store and this year it will be Save-A-Lot. There is not much change here except better prices!!
We also depend on other locals to provide items such as eggs, produce from gardens and their business. And we welcome our congregation to donate items to help fill the gap. We will need items such as oranges, potatoes, bananas, and grapes. We also have a fund that is set up for monetary donations.
There are many ways to help with this important ministry. We will need volunteers to go to the produce auction to pick up produce on Friday, volunteers to help set up, and volunteers to work the market. We will be open from 3:30pm - 5:00pm this year but we will start setting up an hour or so before opening. It is also a time for great fellowship not only with each other but with those who come to shop. Please pray for how you can contribute!
