PASTOR JOSH'S RESIGNATION LETTER:
Sisters and brothers of Prairie Lutheran Parish,
Grace to you and peace in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
I write to let you know that Grace Lutheran Church of Sisseton, SD has called me to be their pastor. I have accepted their call, and for this reason, I hereby resign as pastor of Prairie Lutheran Parish effective February 15th, 2022. Sunday, February 13th will be my last Sunday.
While I am excited to begin my ministry alongside the people of Grace Lutheran, I am saddened that my time as your pastor is coming to an end. Together we rejoiced at the baptisms and confirmations of our youth. Together we have mourned the deaths of our beloved. Together we have listened to God’s word, been fed at the Lord’s table, and proclaimed Christ in word and deed.
I thank you and thank God for you. I am so very grateful for the opportunity to serve as your pastor. I give thanks for your helpful suggestions and your gracious praise, for the ways you taught me to be a better pastor, for your willingness to try new things, and for all the times you invited me into your hurts, your joys, your homes, and your lives, allowing me to witness to Christ’s presence in those times and places. Thank you for the love you shared with Marti, Hali, Brynja, and Jensi: for letting the girls sit with you in church, for remembering them on birthdays and holidays, for helping them grow in faith, for enduring their difficult days, and for making church a place where they are comfortable, have friends, and want to be.
I have loved being your pastor and I love you. However, once my time as your pastor has come to an end, I will no longer be available to provide pastoral services for you. It would be inappropriate for me to return to do funerals, weddings, and the like. That being said, should your congregation celebrate an anniversary, I would be glad to come and celebrate with you.
On behalf of myself, Marti, and the girls, thank you, people of Prairie Lutheran Parish! We love you and will be praying for you!
The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord’s face shine on you with grace and mercy. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
In Christ’s love and peace,
Pastor Joshua Knudsen
