David Parishes in Arnold, Missouri, merged to form Holy Family Parish. The two had a long shared history, as St. David's was established in 1960 as an offshoot of Immaculate Conception. Over the years, they collaborated on programs like C*C sports and Catholic education. Immaculate Conception, founded in 1840 by German and Alsatian immigrants, built its first stone church in 1851, with the current
church completed in 1895. The parish's strong commitment to stewardship led to the construction of a parish center in 2000. St. David Parish, named after an English Benedictine saint, began in 1963 with 200 families. Before its church was built, Masses were held at Franke Motors. The church cornerstone was blessed in 1964, and services were initially held in the rectory basement before the parish expanded to include a school, gym, and athletic field. A pivotal moment in their partnership came in 1988 when both parish schools merged into HolyChild School, later joined by St. John's School in 2007, ensuring strong Catholic education for K-8 students. In 2023, as part of the Archdiocese All Things New initiative, the parishes officially merged. Fr. Gerald Blessing was anointed Pastor, with Fr. John Brennell assisting in the transition. A major step was unifying worship at the Church Road location, with Fr. Blessing emphasizing, "We need one worship site to truly come together." Since the merger, committees from both parishes have worked to integrate events and resources, strengthening parish life. Key milestones include the parish renaming and new logo, the final Mass at St. David, Archbishop Rozainski's visit, and Fr. Blessing's installation. Community traditions such as the former Fall Festival, Spring Picnic, and Festival of Trees continue to support parish needs, while Holy Family Parish School remains central to fostering faith, education, and community, ensuring the parish remains a thriving spiritual home. Immaculate Conception had a history of offering a Mass in Spanish for the Spanish-speaking community in the area. As such, Holy Family Parish continues to offer a Mass in Spanish and has a segment of its membership that is Spanish-speaking.
