THE PRODIGAL SONS: THE HEART OF THE FATHER ❤️

📖 Luke 15:32

This past Sunday, we began a new sermon series, “The Prodigal Sons.”

When we hear the story of the prodigal son, our attention often goes to the younger son—the one who took his inheritance, left home, wasted everything, and eventually returned.

But this story is about more than one lost son.

It is the story of two sons who were lost in two different ways:

➡️ One was lost in the far country.
➡️ The other was lost in the Father’s house.

And at the center of it all is a Father whose heart continues to reach for both of His sons.

The Father was full of mercy and grace.
The Father allowed the son to choose.
The Father never stopped expecting his return.
The Father ran toward the returning son.
The Father restored what was lost.
The Father also went after the older son.

This is the heart of our Heavenly Father.

He never changes the address.
He never stops waiting.
He never stops loving.
He never stops calling.

Maybe you have been running from God. Maybe you have made mistakes. Maybe you have wandered far away. Or perhaps you have remained close to the things of God while your heart has become distant.

The Father’s message to you is simple:

Come home.

DON’T GO TO TARSHISH — PART 5 | SERIES FINALE

After weeks of exploring the dangers of disobedience and the power of obedience, we have reached the conclusion of our “Don’t Go to Tarshish” series.

And what better example of complete obedience than Jesus Christ? ✝️

Jesus said:

“Not My will, but Yours, be done.” — Luke 22:42

Jesus chose the Father's will even when obedience meant suffering, sacrifice, and the cross.

Through this series, we've learned that obedience:

- Is evidence of a surrendered life
- Positions us for God's provision
- Can lead to divine promotion
- Deepens our fellowship with God
- Helps us fulfill our God-given purpose
- Positions us for divine appointments
- Produces spiritual fruit, joy, and peace
- Brings blessing when we walk faithfully in God's Word

Obedience may not always be easy.
It may not always be comfortable.
It may not always make sense.

But it always pays to obey God.

So as we close this series, ask yourself:

Where is God calling me to obey?

Don't let fear send you to Tarshish.
Don't let convenience send you to Tarshish.
Don't let people's opinions send you to Tarshish.

If God says GO — GO.
If God says WAIT — WAIT.
If God says FORGIVE — FORGIVE.
If God says STOP — STOP.

Choose God's will over your own.

Don't go to Tarshish.

LISTEN. TRUST. OBEY. 🛳️

As we continue our series “Don’t Go to Tarshish,” we’re reminded that God isn’t simply looking for people who hear His Word—He is looking for people who do His Word.

True obedience requires us to:

👂 Listen to God
👀 Observe His instructions
🙌 Do what He says
❤️ Continue faithfully

Sometimes God's instructions won't make sense. Sometimes obedience will be uncomfortable. But we can trust that His way is always better than ours.

“To obey is better than sacrifice.” — 1 Samuel 15:22

So this week, ask yourself:

Am I hearing God, but still going my own way?

Don't go to Tarshish when God is calling you to Nineveh.

Listen. Trust. Obey.

May God give us the grace to walk completely in His will. 🙏🏾

Jonah thought he could run from God.

But here’s what he forgot:

There is nowhere you can go where God is not there. 🙏🏾

You may run from the assignment.
You may change your location.
You may hide from people.

But you cannot hide from God.

📖 “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?” — Psalm 139:7

Sometimes we’re not running from a place—we’re running from obedience.

Whatever God has called you to do, don’t let fear, discomfort, or disobedience send you to your own Tarshish.

You can’t escape His presence. So stop running and start obeying. ❤️

What happens when God says “Go,” but we choose to run?

Jonah ran to Tarshish.
Saul chose partial obedience.
Both remind us of one powerful truth:

Partial obedience is still disobedience.

Sometimes Tarshish looks like comfort. Sometimes it looks like convenience. Sometimes it looks like having a perfectly good reason for not doing what God asked.

But God's purpose for our lives requires surrender.

This week, ask yourself:

Where is my Tarshish?
What has God asked me to do that I have been delaying, resisting, or trying to do my own way?

Don't run from the assignment.
Don't compromise the instruction.
Choose obedience. Choose God's will.

This month, we're beginning a powerful new series that calls us back to one simple but life-changing principle: obedience.

Tarshish wasn't just a destination—it represented running from God's assignment.

How often do we choose what's comfortable over what's commanded?

Like Jonah, we can find ourselves heading toward our own "Tarshish" when we ignore God's voice, delay obedience, or pursue our own plans instead of His purpose.

But here's the good news: God lovingly calls us back.

This month, choose:
✔️ Obedience over convenience.
✔️ Faith over fear.
✔️ God's purpose over personal preference.

Because God's best is found not in running away from Him—but in walking faithfully with Him.

"I will not run from God's calling. My steps are ordered by the Lord, and I choose obedience over disobedience. This is my season of new beginnings, and I will walk in God's perfect will."

As we concluded our Rejoice Evermore series, we were reminded that rejoicing is more than an emotion—it's a lifestyle rooted in God's unchanging faithfulness.

When we choose to rejoice, God blesses us in remarkable ways:

💪 He gives us strength for every season.
📈 He positions us for divine promotion.
🙌 Our praise becomes a testimony that points others to Christ.
🕊️ He fills our hearts with confidence and peace.

May our homes be filled with thanksgiving, our mouths with praise, and our hearts with worship. Let us focus less on our problems and more on God's promises, knowing that He is always faithful.

Everyday we feed our bodies...
But are we feeding our spirit?

✨ Makeup can enhance your appearance.
✨ Clothes can make you look put together.

But only God’s Word can nourish your spirit.

Even if it’s:
📖 One chapter.
📖 A few verses.
📖 A moment in His presence.

Don’t neglect your spiritual life.

Because when life gets hard, you can’t withdraw what you never deposited.

God has given us every reason to rejoice, but there are things that can quietly rob us of the joy He intends for us to live in.

This week, we learned about seven enemies of rejoicing:

• Disobedience
• Comparison
• Lack of self-control
• Carnality
• Spiritual starvation
• Prayerlessness
• Looking back

Joy isn't sustained by perfect circumstances—it's protected by a heart that stays close to God.

When we walk in obedience, remain rooted in God's Word, cultivate a consistent prayer life, and keep our eyes fixed on Christ, our joy becomes stronger than our circumstances.

This week, choose to replace complaining with thanksgiving, fear with faith, and discouragement with worship.

"My joy is anchored in God's faithfulness. I will not allow comparison, discouragement, or life's challenges to steal my rejoicing. The joy of the Lord is my strength!"
