As Christians, we are the hands and feet of Christ in our community. We have been talking about this topic over the past few weeks. As 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 says, we are all many different parts of one body. We have all been baptized by the one spirit that unifies us, though we are all different parts of that one spirit. We must approach our own ministries with this in mind. Just as the feet and hands are different, they are all part of one body with one goal in mind, that is keeping the body in motion. In our community, we might be different than the Lutherans, or Non-Denominational, or even the Baptists, but we have one thing in common. That one common trend being that we are all disciples of the same Christ. We are all driven by the same commandment to make more disciples and tell everyone about Christ's sacrifice for our sins. Pastor Matt will elaborate more on this Sunday at 10am at Arlington United Methodist Church.

Sacrifice, that's a tough word by today's standards. Many people nowadays find themselves sacrificing something to someone or something. Whether it's time, money, our house, etc., we've experienced a moment where we've had to sacrifice something to get a desired outcome. A lot of the time, we might not be willing to make sacrifices, simply because it will set us back. Here's a thought, would you be able to sacrifice anything that you love for someone who wouldn't be grateful for that sacrifice? Another thought, would you be able to sacrifice you're own blood, that being a child, to save the life of another who wouldn't be grateful for it? This Sunday Pastor Matt talks about Jesus predicting his death. This message is relevant in the terms of Jesus has to live his entire life and lead his ministry knowing that he is going to die soon. Come to Arlington United Methodist Church at 10 am on Sunday to hear the word, and learn more about this beautiful sacrifice that Jesus is predicting.

Goodbye. The word directly meaning, "to part ways." Goodbye might be one of the most common words used in our vocabulary today. You got to think, what do you say when you're walking out the door for work every morning? What do you say when you leave church every Sunday? Often times it's that very word, "goodbye." This Sunday, Pastor Matt will be speaking out of Matthew. In this specific passage, we see Jesus preparing for his departure from this world. Instead of the oh so typical "goodbye" we see him use a different term. Jesus, even though he's about to die, replaces "goodbye" with, "I'll be back again soon." Jesus says this also knowing that he will one day return to this world. Not as a baby like before, but as a ruler, as the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Use this as encouragement as you navigate this dark world, hold true to the promise that the Light will return soon.

There is one phrase that seems to always be on repeat. We hear it in songs, on media outlets, from our own friends and family. That phrase being, "money can't buy happiness." This is one of those messages that directly addresses a human's natural pursuit of greed and power. Everyone who doesn't live under a rock knows that the richest and wealthiest are also the most powerful and influential people in the world. Keep in mind those people are often times very much corrupt and influenced by someone a little bit more rich and a little bit more powerful. The problem with the pursuit of money is that money has a limit to it's power and influence. Whereas, those who are focused on God and pursuing him, they're the ones who are influenced by God, called by God, and destined to be with God eternally. Guys, I encourage you today to keep in mind the wise words from 1 John 2:17. "The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever." I don't know about you, but living eternally with God, who has no limit to his power or influence sounds pretty good to me. This Sunday Pastor Matt elaborates more on this message! Come out to Arlington United Methodist Church at 10am for service!

The Old Testament is filled with a ton of old world laws, genealogies of many different people, great stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. On the topic of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, all of these people have one thing in common. That being that they all received a call or message from God to start their ministry. Moses encountered a burning bush. Noah heard directly from God. Jonah heard from God in a storm. Elijah heard from God through a still small voice. God still speaks to us in many different ways even today. However we hear from him, we need to turn to Isaiah as inspiration for how we answer the call when God speaks to us. In Isaiah 6:8 the prophet Isaiah receives his calling from God and how does he respond? Five simple words, "Here am I, send me." It's a simple response, but one that takes an immense amount of faith and courage. My encouragement to you all this week is to listen for God when he speaks to you. To take it to the next level, respond to God with action when he calls you to take action. Above all else, love unconditionally. This Sunday Pastor Matt speaks out of 2 Peter on this topic. So come, listen to God's word, and respond to his call.

It's no secret that this world is clouded in darkness. When you wake up every morning and turn on your favorite news outlet, you see stories of innocent people being killed, videos of our God given rights being violated, reports of sickness, storms, and everything in between. With all of that garbage going on, it's easy to look to God and ask, "Why don't you do something?!" There is a song written by Matthew West called, "Do Something." I encourage everyone to listen to it, this song directly lays out this issue. God made YOU!! In Matthew 5: 13-16 Jesus tells us this, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Pastor Matt elaborates more on this message Sunday, but as we navigate our week, use this passage as not just inspiration, but as a battle cry. When we navigate through the darkness, remember that we are the light that guides people through the darkness to the eternal light. Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
