Thank you to each of you who have generously donated to help with the 2022 maintenance of the grounds at the Arlington Methodist Community Cemetery. When we visit the graves of loved ones, everyone likes to see that it has been neatly mowed and trimmed. Your contributions have enabled us to do this.

As you know in Alabama, growing season lasts from late spring, through the summer and into early fall. It takes a substantial amount of money for upkeep each year. We have a few more weeks to go in 2022. It is not too late if anyone else would like to help.

Dear Arlington Methodist Cemetery FB friends,
I am writing to ask for a financial pledge from you to help with cemetery maintenance on a yearly basis. The grounds can be maintained for approximately $300/month for 5 months of the year. SO, I am looking for 15 people who will pledge $100/year on a yearly basis to the Arlington Methodist Community and Cemetery Fund (AMCCF). You can send your donation through PayPal. Just search for [email protected] or you may private message me and I will send you my address if you prefer to send a check.

At present the maintenance is in the hands of two capable older teens who live in the Arlington community (members of the church there). We have a couple of CDs from previous donations, but we are keeping them for a "rainy day" fund for when we need to do major work, i.e. take down a tree, clean up after a tornado, etc! At present the Officers of the AMCCF are Abe Cook, President, Nancy Griffin Brown Vice-President, and Cindy Nettles Douglas, Sec./Treasurer.

Dear Friends of Arlington Methodist Cemetery,
As you probably know, the Arlington United Methodist Church has never sold plats in the church cemetery. Several years before his death, Dr. James D. Nettles established a foundation hoping to provide future care for the upkeep of the cemetery. The foundation name is Arlington Methodist Community Cemetery Foundation (AMCCF). The interest earned on the principal of the fund has been used for maintenance. However, the funds are getting low. The current officers of the foundation are Abe Cook, President, Nancy Griffin Brown, Vice President, and Cindy Nettles Douglas, Treasurer.

As we are approaching spring/summer 2020, the grass will need to be tended again. It needs attention particularly from May through September. It costs about $1500.00/season to pay for maintenance. It would be most helpful and appreciated if you are able and will make a yearly donation to the fund to help with the expense. Contributions may be sent to:

Another option would be if anyone is interested and/or able to take personal responsibility for the maintenance for one month each spring/summer. You may be able to donate your time as opposed to your money and if so, please let us know if that is the case.
