The 2026 Fearless CICM-North Carolina Youth Encounter exceeded all expectations, welcoming about 400 participants. The atmosphere was electric from start to finish, filled with high-energy worship, dancing, games, and plenty of time for teens from across the Diocese of Raleigh to connect. Young adult speakers led the main sessions with bold, heartfelt messages that resonated deeply with the youth and challenged them to pursue holiness with courage. Participants were blessed to be accompanied by the relics of our seven patron saints at this event. The day culminated in a powerful time of Eucharistic Adoration, where hundreds of teens gathered in reverence and prayer.

The catholic church is truly alive in the youth!!!

Heavenly Father, You are the God of peace, the source of love and mercy. We come
before You with heavy hearts, grieving for the suffering in the Middle East. Lord, we pray
for their leaders, their people, and all whọ are caught in the crossfire of conflict. May
Your wisdom guide those in power to choose dialogue over destruction, reconciliation
over retaliation.
We lift up the innocent -the children, the families, the displaced —who long for safety
and security. Comfort them, O Lord, and be their refuge in times of fear. Let Your light
shine upon the darkness of war, And may Your peace, which surpasses all
understanding, reign in every heart.
Unite the world, Lord, as instruments of Your love and never cease to pray for the
healing of nations.May we continue to be bearers of hope and peace, trusting that God
hears our prayers and will bring healing to the nations.
In Jesus' name, we pray.

Today, we commemorate the 158th Death Anniversary (1868–2026) of 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐬𝐭, beloved Founder of the 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 (𝐂𝐈𝐂𝐌).

𝑯𝒊𝒔 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑴𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏:
• Born on June 12, 1823, in Antwerp, Belgium
• Ordained priest on September 18, 1847, in Mechelen
• Served as educator and chaplain in various ministries in Belgium
• Founded the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (CICM) on November 28, 1862
• Departed for mission in China (Inner Mongolia) in 1865
• Appointed Apostolic Vicar of Inner Mongolia
• Died on February 23, 1868, in Laohugou, China, at the age of 44

May his legacy of faith, humility, and missionary ardor remain alive in every CICM missionary. May the Congregation continue to grow and flourish, faithfully guided by his charism and inspired by his unwavering love for Christ and His people.

May his missionary spirit continue to inspire generations to serve with courage, compassion, and steadfast faith.

158th Death Anniversary of Theophile Verbist, CICM - February 23, 2026

Today we solemnly remember and give thanks for the life and missionary zeal of Father Théophile Verbist, CICM (1823–1868), founder of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

On this day in 1868, at only 44 years of age, our beloved founder passed away from typhoid fever in the remote village of Laohugou, Inner Mongolia, China—just three short years after arriving in the mission field he had so passionately dreamed of and prepared for.

Driven by a deep love for the orphaned and abandoned children of China, and inspired by his work with the Holy Childhood Association, Fr. Verbist founded our Congregation in 1862 to bring the light of the Gospel to distant lands. His courage, faith, and total self-giving continue to inspire thousands of CICM missionaries and lay partners around the world today.

Though his earthly life was brief, the seeds he planted in faith have borne fruit across continents—from Asia to Africa, the Americas, and Europe. His legacy lives on in every act of service, every proclamation of God's love, and every heart touched by the mission he began.

"Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace." Amen.

Due to snow and winter weather forecasts, we have decided to cancel this weekend’s retreat Fearless Youth Encounter/Retreat originally scheduled for January 31, 2026 for the safety of our team, teens and families.

The Fearless Youth Encounter has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the same time, same place.

Same Encounter. Same Fire. New date! 😇🔥

We’re disappointed we can’t gather this weekend—but we are SO excited to welcome everyone in March for a powerful, faith-filled encounter!
