Happy Monday! This Wednesday we'll be meeting at 6:45 in the family theater. The outline that the youth will be working through is below. Read and pray through it this week. The goal for our time on Wednesday is not the dissemination but the assimilation of information that will help us be disciples that make disciples. The more familiar you are with the topic the better. We are looking forward to it!
Text - John 15
One Thing- The purpose of our lives is to bear fruit.
Outline
Context- Jesus has just washed the feet, led them through the last meal, brought out Lord’s Supper, and has now taken them into the garden of Gethsemane, where his arrest will be happening soon. By the middle of the day the next day, Jesus will be on the cross.
Jesus comes out with this awesome object lesson- Vines and Branches
I- The Vineyard belongs to the Lord
-we all have selfish tendencies to think we have ownership, and often question God with the old “but God…”
HOWEVER, we see from the beginning that God is a God that is jealous. That He is in charge, and we are not.
We can’t find our PURPOSE without realizing our PLACE.
God calls us to release control so that he may work in our lives.
The good news being that we don’t have to bear that weight of the branch, we are to just bear fruit.
II- God desires for us to have as much fruit as possible in our lives.
We can’t miss it. Our job is to bear fruit. Our purpose is to bear fruit, and our life mission is to discover how you’re created with the intention to dive into that process.
III- Bearing fruit is a life-long deal
Everyone plays a role in bearing fruit, with each person using the gifts that God has entrusted us with
We need to have the right tools in order to have a fruitful life
We aren’t just commanded to bear fruit, we are outfitted with the HS and the gifts that come from it. We aren’t called to be cookie cutters of other people's gifts but live out of the gifts God has strategically given to us.
Highlight fruits of the spirit
Titus 3:14, Psalm 1
No plant casually produces a ton of fruit, it’s usually a slow burn process, or only “in season”.
