Yesterday’s service was a very appropriate and exciting close to a five-week series called “Community, Not a Concert,” which the South has been engaged in. There is so much that I could highlight from the service, but for the sake of brevity let me mention these two things.
First, several of the college students powerfully and diligently shared some of the lessons they gleaned from the International Campus Ministry Conference (ICMC) in Oklahoma a week ago. We were inspired by what they shared as well as the faith with which they shared. Very proud of them individually and collectively!
Second, Michael ended the series with a sermon that helped increased our faith and confidence in what God is doing through our Christian community (church). He presented 5 obstacles to community and explained how embracing moments of failure in these areas, without quitting, strengthens our commitment to and involvement in spiritual community. Who would have thought…failure is not always a bad thing, it’s even required for growth in some areas. LET’S GOOOO!
