Sunday Morning Worship

05/17/2026

O God our King, by the resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ on the first day of the week, you conquered sin, put death to flight, and gave us the hope of everlasting life: Redeem all our days by this victory; forgive our sins, banish our fears, make us bold to praise you and to do your will; and steel us to wait for the consummation of your kingdom on the last great Day; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

“Our desire to be holy and to refrain from sin has as its primary goal not our personal happiness, however important that may be, but the glory of Christ. Our chief business on earth is to glorify the Ever-Glorious One.”

Mark Jones

“A power from the outside is coming, a power that is able to make a new creation out of people like us, stones like us. The power that is coming is not
our power, not the power of our deeds, or our inner strength, or our spiritual discipline, or our faith, or even our repentance. It is God’s power that gives
good deeds and inner strength and spiritual discipline and faith and repentance. We are able to repent and bear the fruit of the Spirit because He is coming.”

Today is Ascension Day!

Almighty God, whose blessed Son our Savior Jesus Christ ascended far above all heavens that he might fill all things: Mercifully give us faith to perceive that, according to his promise, he abides with his Church on earth, even to the end of the ages; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

"In Exodus 14, the Angel of Yahweh leads Israel through the Red Sea. This is the same angel who judged Adam and Eve and yet clothed them in sacrificial skins; who judged S***m and Gomorrah but delivered Abram and Lot; and who appeared in a burning bush before Moses on Mt. Sinai. He is, in fact, the pre-incarnate Christ who here acts in judgment again. Clothed in the cloud pillar, he goes before his liberated host, separating the waters to form dry land in order once again-as in the first creation-to make a habitable place where he may commune with human beings. In this way, the Exodus represents a new creation."

Michael Horton

“The redemption of the world by Christ’s obedience unto death, and our consequent deliverance from death and hell, should never be far from our thoughts. It is so stupendous a work, that it has filled all heaven with wonder; and the “riches” of divine grace contained in it are absolutely “unsearchable.”

Charles Simeon

Blessed be the Lord,
who daily bears us up;
God is our salvation. Selah

Our God is a God of salvation,
and to God, the Lord,
belong deliverances from death.
