Everybody has a favorite Bible verse. But not every favorite verse is being used correctly.

One verse taken out of context can lead to a misunderstanding of Godā€™s character, Godā€™s promises, and Godā€™s purpose.

This week we continued our Out of Context series by learning three simple ways to read the Bible faithfully:

1. Observe before you apply
2. Let Scripture interpret Scripture
3. Look for God before you look for a principle

The goal of Bible reading isnā€™t just information. Itā€™s transformation. And the more we understand Godā€™s Word in context, the more clearly we see Jesus.

Context isnā€™t just a Bible study skill. Itā€™s the difference between knowing God and building one.

When we pull scripture out of its setting, we donā€™t just misread a verse. We misread the God behind it. We end up with a version of Him that fits our fears, our preferences, and our needs instead of who He actually is.
