St. Basil's Syriac Orthodox (Jacobite) Church, Houston

Today, Aug. 23 — Wonderful day, blessed day with Holy Qurbana celebrated by our Vicar Rev. Fr. Shinoj Joseph.

For the first time, Fr. Shinoj Joseph took Eldho Susil to the Altar — a blessed moment for the church and the Susil family.

We have a new member to the church — we gave a Holy Bible and Bava’s picture to the Kurian Mathai (Joy) & Ann Kurian family — it was a blessed moment. Thank you for joining with us.

Also, it was the birthday of Eva Ebin, and it was a happy moment.

We have an upcoming event — എട്ട് നോമ്പ് (Ettu Nombu)Lent begins August 30th (Sunday),followed by holy Qurbana.On Sep 6th(Sunday)we have holy Qurbana and intercesory prayer of Saint Mary,followed by Nercha Sadya for everyone. All please come and participate.

🌿 St. Basil’s Jacobite Church Houston – 40th Day Memorial Prayer 🙏

Today, St. Basil’s Jacobite Church Houston was blessed with the Holy Qurbana celebrated by Rev. Fr. Shinoj Joseph, concelebrated by Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Itty Thomas Co-Episcopa Achen and Rev. Fr. Joseph Achen.

Today marked the 40th day of the passing of Aliyamma Ammai, wife of Itty Achen. As part of the 40th-day memorial observance, Dhoopa Prarthana was also offered in her blessed memory.

We sincerely thank everyone who joined us in prayer and shared their love and support with Itty Achen and the family on this solemn occasion.

May her soul rest in peace and may God grant comfort and strength to the bereaved family. 🙏🕊️

🌟 St. Basil’s Church Houston VBS 2026 – A Wonderful Success! 🌟

Our St. Basil’s Church Houston VBS, held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM, was successfully completed with the prayers, love, support, and participation of our entire church community. 🙏❤️

This wonderful event was the result of several days of hard work, dedication, teamwork, and commitment from our children, Sunday School students, teachers, parents, youth, and volunteers. It was truly a team effort, and everyone played an important role in making the day special and memorable! 👏❤️

A special appreciation to Maria Joseph for coordinating the VBS so well and for putting in tremendous effort, time, and dedication to make the program a great success. 👏👏

🌷 Sheeba & Seema – Thank you for providing a wonderful breakfast for our children and volunteers and for your thoughtful support.

🌷 Annie Abraham, Sunday School Principal – Thank you for your valuable support in coordinating the VBS and helping with the arrangements involving our youth and children.

🌷 Our Sunday School Teachers – Thank you for your time, effort, patience, dedication, and commitment. You all did a wonderful job guiding and supporting our children. ❤️

📚 SUNDAY SCHOOL MODEL EXAM

We are also thankful that our 10th grade Sunday School Model Exam was successfully completed as part of the program. Thank you to everyone who helped coordinate and support the exam.

A sincere thank you to our Vicar, Rev. Fr. Shinoj Joseph, for his guidance, support, and help in coordinating the VBS.

We also sincerely thank Rev. Fr. Eldho Achen for joining us for the evening prayer and for blessing our children and the entire VBS program. 🙏✝️

🎉 EVENING FUN & FELLOWSHIP

After the evening prayer, our children enjoyed the bounce house and water slides, making the evening even more exciting, joyful, and memorable! 💦🎈😄

We also enjoyed a wonderful grilled and barbecue dinner after the evening prayer. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped with the grilling, cooking, serving, and food arrangements. 🍗🔥❤️

🌿 കൂടാര (Transfiguration) പെരുന്നാൾ ആചരണം | St. Basil’s Syriac (Jacobite) Orthodox Church, Houston 🌿

ഇന്ന് ബുധനാഴ്ച വൈകിട്ട് St. Basil’s Syriac (Jacobite) Orthodox Church, Houston-ൽ കൂടാര (Transfiguration) പെരുന്നാളിനോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് സന്ധ്യാ പ്രാർത്ഥനയും വിശുദ്ധ കുർബാനയും ഭക്തിനിർഭരമായി നടത്തപ്പെട്ടു.

ഓസ്ട്രേലിയയിലെ മെൽബണിൽ നിന്നുള്ള പ്രിയ Rev. Fr. Dr. Jacob Joseph (Saji Achen) വിശുദ്ധ കുർബാനയ്ക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നൽകി.

Today, July 26, 2026, St. Basil’s Jacobite Syriac Church joyfully celebrated the 28th Anniversary of the Priesthood of our beloved Vicar, Rev. Fr. Shinoj Joseph Achen, following the Holy Qurbana.

It was a truly blessed and memorable occasion for our parish family. We thank God for Achen’s dedicated ministry and pray that He continues to bless him with good health, wisdom, and many more years of faithful service.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this a wonderful and blessed celebration. May God bless you all!
