“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” — John 15:13

Today we remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice reflects a truth Jesus spoke to His disciples—that the greatest expression of love is to lay down one’s life for others.

As we remember the fallen, may we also look to Christ, whose sacrifice secures eternal life for all who trust in Him.

We remember. We honor. We give thanks.

Join us on May 17 for “A Seat at the Table” Sunday—a day to reconnect, worship, and share a meal together. Come early for donuts at 9:15, jump into one of our Sunday School classes, and worship the Lord together as we grow in faith and encourage one another. Then stay for a potluck meal—and remember, your friends and family at Archibald First Baptist Church have saved you a seat!

Due to the winter storm this week, we weren’t able to gather in person, but God’s Word still calls us to respond wherever we are. In today’s message from Mark 1:14–20, we see Jesus announce that the time is fulfilled and call ordinary people to follow Him—moving us from exposure to response, from the Jordan to the shoreline.

I’m thankful for the opportunity to unpack this passage together today, and I’m looking forward to worshiping in person again next week.

Church family, due to the high potential for freezing rain and hazardous conditions, we will be moving our Sunday services to Facebook this week.

For everyone’s safety, there will be no in-person worship services or Sunday morning classes this Sunday.
