PFAS reality check for your area
No farm in 32618 is currently advertising PFAS testing. FDA says most foods not grown in known PFAS-contaminated areas have no detectable levels. To minimize risk:
Alachua County has 1,700+ farms with a long growing season, so you can meet growers directly at High Springs Farmers Market Fridays and ask about their practices.
1. Ask these 3 questions: What’s your water source? Do you use biosolids/sludge fertilizer? Has your land been tested? USDA organic prohibits biosolids — one PFAS pathway.
2. Choose Square A Farms if you want the strictest inputs: certified transitional organic + explicit "never exposed to chemicals, pesticides" claim
3. For produce: Bambi's specifically says "natural fertilizers" and "free of chemicals, pesticides and GMO's". Kalliergo is "naturally grown".
