Proverbs 22:1-2 (CSB): 1 A good name is to be chosen over great wealth;
favor is better than silver and gold.
2 Rich and poor have this in common:[a]
the Lord makes them all.
It's easy to compare yourself to others when it comes to financial wealth. Whether it's staring at a nice car going down the road or mocking a beggar, we've all had a thought about it before. It's humam nature. But allow us to put something into perspective:
- only 74% of the world has access to drinking water
- only 70% of the world has access to reliable food
- only 60-68% of the world has access to a smart phone
While many of us are beginning to struggle or have already struggled with the economy, it's important to occasionally take inventory of what you do have. If you have close family, friends, clean clothes, a bed, dinner, water, sleep, a vehicle, public transport, a roof over your head, or another commonplace good/amenity, you are already blessed more than many others.
