Who Is My Neighbor? | Receiving the Neighbor
Last Sunday we began by asking what it means to notice our neighbors. This Sunday we take the next step: What does it mean to receive them?

We’ll hear a neighbor story from Jay Budde, who works with and advocates for immigrant neighbors in our area, including people being held in immigration detention. We’ll also explore the story of David and Mephibosheth in 2 Samuel 9 and gather around Christ’s table as we celebrate World Communion Sunday.

At that table, we remember something important: we are not the hosts. We are people who have first been welcomed and received by Christ. And because there is room for us, we can make room for others.

There is room for us.
There is room for others.
There is room at the table.

Join us Sunday at 10:30 AM at PEACE Mennonite Fellowship. 🪑 🍂 🍞

Dragons. Beasts. Horsemen. 666. The end of the world. 😬

For a book whose name means “revelation” or “unveiling,” Revelation can sometimes feel remarkably good at hiding things.

This Sunday during First Hour, PEACE begins Revelation for Normal People, a journey through one of the Bible's strangest, most fascinating, and most misunderstood books.

We'll begin with a surprisingly basic question: What kind of book is Revelation?

Revelation introduces itself as an apocalypse, a prophecy, and a letter to seven actual churches. Those clues can change the way we read everything that follows. Rather than treating Revelation primarily as a secret code for predicting the future, we'll begin by asking what it revealed to Christians trying to live faithfully in their own complicated world, and what it might reveal about Jesus and faithful discipleship in ours.

You don't need to know anything about Revelation. You don't need to have it figured out. And you definitely don't need a chart explaining which helicopter is hiding in which verse. 😄

🍞 Worship at PEACE | Sunday, September 6
You are what you eat.

Or so the saying goes.

But maybe we are also what we think. And what we practice. And what we do again and again until those things become part of who we are.

In Exodus 12, God gives the newly liberated people of Israel a meal to remember. They are to tell the story, eat the meal, and repeat it from generation to generation. It is more than remembering something God once did. These practices will help shape them into a people who know what freedom means.

Jesus later takes that same meal of remembrance and places his own life at its center: Do this in remembrance of me.

This Sunday at PEACE, we'll explore how the practices of Christian faith can shape our imaginations, our habits, and our life together. Not as ways to earn God's favor, but as ways of opening ourselves to the Spirit's work of forming us more deeply into the way of Jesus.
