The Quilt panels will be on display on the second floor of the Cal Poly Humboldt Library from Nov. 30 through Dec. 8. The display is free to the public.

A community gathering on Saturday, Dec. 7, will take place at North of Fourth (207 3rd Street) in Eureka. A collective of local groups including the Eureka Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Eric Rofes Multicultural Q***r Center, Q***r Humboldt, the Ink People Center for the Arts, the Threshold Choir, and the City of Eureka organized to display additional Quilt Panels through the help of local patrons. A program will include invited speakers from 6-8 p.m.

The Quilt was created in the ‘80s during the darkest days of the AIDS pandemic The wall of names looked like a patchwork quilt. Today, the Quilt has grown to more than 50,000 panels, with more than 110,000 names stitched within its fabric.

For more information, contact Paul Michael L. Atienza at (707) 826-3213 or [email protected], or NAM Quilt Curator Brian Holman at [email protected].

Wednesday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Minor Theater

In the county which once boasted it was “free of Chinamen,” Chinese community members search for those who may have survived Humboldt's 1885 expulsion and 60 years of enforced exclusion– the only known survivor being Charlie Moon, whose descendants are Native tribal members. Framed by the words of a ghost, this hybrid documentary/fiction film alternates between the observational search for ‘the others’ with the appearance of ghosts as the past demands recognition in the present.

Hosted by HAPI, Humboldt Asian & Pacific Islanders in Solidarity. Discussion panel to follow film. Co-Sponsored by the Department of Native American Studies and the Department of Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies at Cal Poly Humboldt. Proceeds will go towards the Eureka Chinatown Monument Fund. Please consider a Wiyot Honor Tax (honortax.org) NR - 36 mins.
