Biblical Masculinity
(takeaway from yesterday's message)
Jesus Christ is our perfect example of masculinity.
He is Head and Husband.
He is provider and protector.
What did the masculinity of Jesus look like?
He proclaimed unchangeable moral truths but showed mercy to the repentant sinner.
He humbled himself and became the meek and lowly Lamb, yet he never hesitated to call out the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and religious leaders of the day.
He had compassion on the sick and gave strength to the weak.
He walked courageously in the face of evil.
He was a defender of children and showed pity on the widow.
He brought comfort to the hurting and those that were cast down.
He proclaimed liberty to the prisoner and provided hope to the dying.
He loved his bride and sacrificed for her.
Jesus was the epitome of a man’s man.
Masculinity as defined by God’s word is not toxic. Cowardly men who are afraid of truth, who abuse their roles, and who prey on the weak and vulnerable are toxic.
In any culture where men do not fulfill their God-given roles as leaders or abuse their roles as husbands or fathers or church leaders, that culture has been, is, and will be plagued with broken families, moral decline, and social confusion.
Masculinity epitomized in the person of Jesus Christ is not toxic; compromise and abuse are.
