God of comfort and courage,
we lift up Nepal and the Tibetan region tonight —

the families searching for loved ones still missing,
the rescuers climbing into danger to bring people home,
the communities standing in mud and grief where villages once stood.

Be near to those who wait for news.
Strengthen the hands of every responder.
Hold the dead in your mercy, and the living in your peace.

Move through your people now —

Over the past week, people across the Midwest U.S. have been impacted by historic levels of flash flooding and severe storms. At least seven people have died, and thousands of residents have been affected by devastating home and infrastructure damage.

UMCOR is responding to the needs of these individuals and families through solidarity grants to the West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church and the Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church - INUMC, which will amplify their relief efforts as they distribute supplies and support local churches that are preparing and distributing food and helping residents with flood clean-up.

Introducing the new UMC Solar and Battery Pilot Program! ☀️

Designed to help United Methodist churches serving vulnerable communities across the U.S. procure and install solar and/or battery systems, this Global Ministries and UMCOR program will build resilience, reduce emissions and energy costs, and keep the doors of these critical community service ministries open.

Up to 20 churches will be selected for the program, with applications accepted through Nov. 2, 2026.

For the first time in nearly 10 years, a significant number of representatives of the two reservation-based UMCs in the Cal-Nevada Conference gathered together in July at a Native American Family camp sponsored by the Committee on Native American Ministries (CoNAM).

Representatives from Global Ministries are in El Salvador attending the 2026 World Methodist Council meeting, taking place from August 13-17. Their presence at this gathering strengthens Global Ministries' relationships with ecumenical and Methodist faith leaders from around the world, advancing opportunities for collaborative and effective mission worldwide.

As the meeting concludes today, join us in prayer for safe travels home and for ongoing efforts to share God's transformational love through mission.
