Righteousness isn’t subjective or in other words up for a vote or based on experience, background or personal opinion. Righteousness is only defined and declared by God’s Word. Yet many claim a righteous cause or life based on their own definitions or ideals. “I am a good person”, is a common statement in our world. Many say it as a way to excuse themselves. However, your described “goodness” is relative to your definition. It’s like the old adage, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. Frankly my friends, our (me and you) goodness isn’t good enough. Our righteousness is dirty, tainted and ugly (just like an old filthy rag) Jesus said there is NONE good but God. He is God and in Him is no darkness at all. But we commit good and evil in our fallen, Adamic state. For example, you could go with me to the prison and there you will find many good men. I’m serious, good or even great men. They have done some evil things, were found guilty and are serving a sentence for the privilege to choose between right and wrong/good and evil. Who then defines the laws? Who can say it’s right or wrong? Men in robes? Nope! Our state or federal governments? Nope! How about the local preacher? Nope! Ok, how about we put it up for a vote and we’ll all decide what is good or evil? Nope again!
Righteousness isn’t up for a vote! Our founders and forefathers knew this. Our nation was founded on Judeo-Christian values as defined by God’s word. This was our light, inspiration and liberation. We didn’t take our directives from Government but from God. Government was created to punish the evil doer just as its described in Romans 13.

So why is righteousness up for a vote in the Supreme Court or in the halls of congress? Or why are facts/truth subject to personal interest, self gratification/promotion, or a political persuasion? People have redefined Righteousness, it is subjective. They have fallen into idolatry. They worship their own wisdom and image of goodness. How deceptive.. Satan couldn’t worship His creator for thinking of his own self, Jesus said, I beheld Satan fall like lightning.

Oh.. to be like Jesus, to be like Jesus, that’s all I ask, is to be like Him.

Men often chose darkness, why? Their deeds are evil..As a man thinks, well.. so is he. How do you know what one will do? From the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks..

When you will not listen to God, you will not know truth. He that DOETH righteousness is righteous, but he that Commits sin is of the devil.

But you have found a teacher, a soothsayer and false prophet, a political leader, a news anchor, indeed men shall be lovers of their own selves and will heap to themselves teachers... stop listening to them and start reading your Bible.
