With heavy hearts we must share that Troop 601 will be dissolving its charter with First Presbyterian Church of Apopka. This is not a decision that comes lightly, and Troop 601 is immensely greatful for their support. Troop 601 will officially dissolve as of December 31, 2026.
On July 27, 2026, at 6:30 PM, we will hold a final outdoor flag ceremony in honor of Troop 601, and a dedication in memory of Mr. Arlen Mizell — a loyal and beloved supporter of Troop 601 for many years, who passed in 2023. The ceremony will be held at 500 S. Highland Ave, around the fire circle. Feel free to bring a dish to share. There will be limited seating, so please feel free to bring a chair.
We did not want to close this chapter without inviting all current and former members — Scouts (cubs too!), Eagles, leaders, and supporters — to be part of this final commemoration. This will be the last active event for the Troop, outside of closing details. Eagle Scouts and leaders are encouraged to wear their uniforms.
To all current and former members: although this is a sad circumstance, what was built under the Troop 601 flag does not end here. The Scout Oath and Law live on in each of us. Carry each point and each promise — kindly, courteously, and cheerfully.
