This week at the Starting Line, we talked about how we need to go beyond simply existing. Paul showed us how we can be in the right place, at the right time, and even with the right people, but still may not be pleasing God. He gave us the example of the Israelites who were with Moses after they had been freed from slavery in Egypt. They followed the cloud like he did, they crossed through the sea on dry land like he did, and so on, but they sinned in a number of ways. Paul explained how they serve as an example to us so that we can learn from their mistakes and, by not making those same mistakes, we can avoid the consequences that they endured. The Word of God is filled with examples of imperfect people making wrong decisions that we should be using to know what NOT to do. Beyond that, we talked about taking advantage of those who came before us (parents, pastors, mentors) who may have been where we are now earlier in their life and can help us navigate this crazy life of our own. The bottom line was that you’re not alone, even when you feel like you’re the only one experiencing an issue. So take this opportunity, read the Word and use those examples to help you figure out what you should, and shouldn’t, do. And also, take advantage of the adults in your life who may be able to help you, too. As always, I’m here if you have any questions or need to talk. Other than that, have a great week and I’ll see you Sunday for Sunday school!
