Mt View Baptist Church Core Values:

AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE

God is our ultimate authority. It is not enough to exercise spiritual gifts. GROWTH

Healthy organisms grow.

Since we believe God has spoken to us through the Scriptures in order to reveal Himself so we can know Him, we see the Bible as authoritative. This means what the Bible says about God is true and what the Bible says is the best way to live is truly the best! As we submit to God to live for Him, we submit to the authority He extends through Scripture. STRATEGIC SERVICE

As gifted members of the bo

dy of Christ, each believer is responsible for exercising his or her gifts in tandem with other members of the body. Maximum impact is contingent upon a coordinated, strategic exercise of gifts in the body. WHOLISTIC WORSHIP

The worship of God is one of if not the primary purpose and function for which God created us. We hold dearly to the truth that we are to worship God in and through everything we do, say, or think. The worship of God is to occur individually, together as families, and corporately as the church. AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY

We believe accountability, care, and a sense of belonging are critical to balance and progress in our spiritual journey. These three things are best achieved within the context of a small group of like-minded, relationally-connected believers. Unity must and does occur as people experience authentic community with one another. RESTORATION

Jesus came in order to restore God’s original intent to all creation, especially to humanity. Since Jesus was and is victorious, the restoration has begun of all things. We get to be a part of God restoring people and all of His creation to His original intent and beyond. That is why we as a church must continuously be striving to bring restoration to peoples’ lives by sharing the Gospel in love and deeds, healing marriages and families, stand up for moral causes, and have a perspective of God’s will being done on earth as it is in heaven. Our community must become a better place because of us. We highly value the growth of individuals in their walks with Christ. We as individuals grow in Christ as we grow in our knowledge and application of the Word of God and our participation in the God’s kingdom activity. We value the growth of our congregation in number and in depth as our individual members grow and have a greater impact. We value the growth of our impact on our community as we are agents of restoration and transformation. GRACE

We believe God’s grace is our only hope for eternal life, and it is the unique gift we have to share with the world. As receivers and beneficiaries of God’s grace, we are also to walk in that grace with one another. Our Beliefs:

1. ABOUT GOD - God is the creator and ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. Genesis 1:1, 26-27, 3:2; Psalm 90:2; Matt 28:19; I Pet. 1:2; II Cor. 13:14

2. ABOUT JESUS CHRIST - Jesus Christ is eternal both past and present. He descended to earth through the virgin birth and is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Matt. 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Heb 4:14-15; I Cor. 15:3-4; Rom 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; I Tim. 6:14-15; Titus 2:13.

3. ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT - The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of Spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift(s) when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily. II Cor. 3:17; John 17:7-13, 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; I Cor. 2:12, 3:16; Eph. 1:13; Gal 5:25; Eph 5:18.

4. ABOUT THE BIBLE - The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian belief and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error. II Tim. 3:16-17; II Pet. 1:20-21; II Tim. 1:13; Psalm 119:1-5, 16-, 12:6; Prov. 30:5.

5. ABOUT HUMAN BEINGS - Adam and Eve were created in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character or spiritually alive. With the sin of Adam and Eve, came the curse of mankind to be spiritually dead, just as Romans 6:23 tells us. We have no hope in and of ourselves for salvation because to be saved is to become spiritually alive which can only be done through a re-birth. Gen. 1:27, 3:6, 24; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Rom 3:10-19, 23; Isaiah 59:1-2

6. ABOUT OUR SALVATION - Salvation is God’s free gift to us. He initiates a relationship with us through the convictions of our heart by the Holy Spirit. He draws us to Himself until we are at a point of surrendering our lives to Him as Lord. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and surrender to Him we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one confesses Jesus to be Lord of their life and believes in their heart that God has raised Him up from death unto life. Rom. 6:23; Eph. 2:8-9; John 14:6, 1:12; Tit. 3:5; Gal. 3:26; Rom 5:1 Rom. 10:9

7. ABOUT PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS - Whether you believe once saved, always saved, or that you can lose your salvation, these two thoughts collide at perseverance. The bottom line is this, only those who are truly saved will persevere and only those who persevere are truly saved. It is vital to persevere!! John 10:29-30; II Tim. 1:12; Heb. 7:25, 10:10-14; I Pet. 1:3-5; Rom. 8:38-39; Rom 11:29; Eph. 1:13-14.

8. ABOUT ETERNITY - People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is heaven. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence. John 3:16, 2:25, 5:11-13; Rom 6:23; Rev. 20:15; Matt. 1:8, 2:44-46

9. ABOUT CREATION - Genesis 1 & 2 records the literal story of the creation of the world. Man was created directly in God’s own image. It was not a matter of evolution. Gen. 1,2; John 1:3; Heb 11:3; Rev. 10:8

10. ABOUT CHRISTIAN UNITY - To live in harmony with other believers is clearly the teaching of the New Testament. It is the responsibility of each believer to endeavor to live in fellowship with each member of the congregation. It is further the responsibility of each member to bring all gossiping and backbiting to an end. John 13:34-35; Ephesians 4:1-3; 5:1-2; 1 Corinthians 12:13; 13:1-13; 1 John 3:14-18; 4:11; James 3:1-18

A life transformed...
In a country where Christians are a threatened minority, 7-year-old Aaron was known for being difficult—at home, at school, and even at church.
Still, he was invited to a special outreach event. Though disruptive during the program, he stayed until shoebox gifts were handed out. Aaron thought to himself, “I won’t receive one because of my behavior.”
But he did.
Inside the gift-filled shoebox lovingly packed by a boy far away were toy cars, a shirt, and pens—but what stood out most was a handprint on a white piece of paper and a message: “Every day you can put your hand on this paper and we can pray for each other.” 🙏
Aaron took it to heart. He began praying daily and even started saving money to give to others! His mom was amazed at the change.
Soon after, Aaron joined The Greatest Journey discipleship course—and during those lessons, he made the decision to follow Jesus!
Today, he is continuing to grow in his faith and is learning how to share Christ with others. 🙌📖🎁

Operation Christmas Child is just around the corner. See what God is doing through these simple shoeboxes in some of the most inaccessible places in the world.

Earlier this year in Malawi! 🇲🇼 God's great love was on display as children heard the Good News and received gift-filled shoeboxes.
"Seeing our children receiving the Gospel of Jesus and all the blessings that accompany them, is priceless!"
