The phrase "treasures in heaven" comes directly from the Bible (most notably Matthew 6:20). The most accurate and universally accepted translation from the original ancient Greek text is
"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven..."
Here is the breakdown of the original Greek words:

• Store up (Greek: thesaurizete): Literally means "to treasure up" or "to accumulate and lay aside wealth." It implies making an active, deliberate investment.

• Treasures (Greek: thesauros): Translates to "repository," "vault," "a deposit of value, loosely "Storehouse."

Jesus uses this phrase in contrast to "treasures on earth". While earthly riches can be destroyed by moths/rust or stolen, heavenly treasures are permanent and incorruptible. Rather than physical gold or money, "treasures in heaven" refers to actions that have lasting, eternal significance, such as:

• Generosity and charity (giving to the poor)
• Loving and serving others
• Living a life aligned with God's will rather than chasing material wealth.

This Sunday at our Church in the Park, just after we pull the burgers and dogs from the grill, we'll fire up the TWO foam cannons for the kids. We suggest (1) bringing a change of clothes and (2) comfortable lawn chairs for you and your family.
