🕊️ The City of Anniston, Alabama, joins our community in mourning the passing of Anniston High School football legend Orlando Watters.

A proud son of Anniston, Orlando’s name is forever connected to Bulldog football and to one of the proudest eras in our city’s athletic history. As a standout at Anniston High School, he helped carry forward a tradition of excellence that inspired teammates, classmates, coaches, and generations of young athletes who came after him.

Orlando went on to play college football at the University of Arkansas, where he became a three-year letterman and earned First-Team All-SEC honors in 1993. He later continued his football journey professionally with the Seattle Seahawks in 1994, representing Anniston on one of the biggest stages in sports.

His impact was later recognized through his induction into the Calhoun County Sports Hall of Fame, a fitting honor for someone whose talent, work ethic, and legacy meant so much to this community.

Orlando Watters was more than a great athlete. He was a reminder of what can come from Anniston — strength, discipline, pride, and excellence. His story remains relevant because young people in our city still look to examples like his and see what is possible when talent meets determination.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, former teammates, classmates, coaches, and all who loved him. Anniston will always remember Orlando Watters.
