Congratulations to Saint Michael and All Angels parishioner/White Plains High School Senior Bruce Downey, V, whose skill and sportsmanship as a first-rate soccer athlete resulted in his being named to first team All State honors in soccer.

Bruce is number one in the state in class 4A in assists. He is noted as a well-rounded player who keeps his head up, always looking for make goals and passes. This is a very significant recognition, Bruce, and we are proud of you!

Congratulations, High School Seniors, Class of 2026!

During our liturgy on Sunday, we recognized and blessed a wonderful group of high school seniors in our parish, and presented each a small token of our love with prayers for God's blessings and peace as they embark upon new new beginnings.

From left to right, with our rector, The Rev. David Hodnett, are Brooke Thornton, Preston Hallman-Satterfield, Tanner Garrison, and Bruce Downey.

What fun to see our own Hunter Bell (best London Bird around) in The Donoho School production of Mary Poppins. Kudos to Ms. Burrage and crew for an amazing production at Jacksonnville State University's Stone Center. First-rate cast and, in every way, a first-rate production!

Congratulations, Hunter, on another play/musical well done!

Our kids are involved in school and community life in so many fun and creative ways! Let us know and share how your kids are making a positive difference!

A group of us enjoyed getting an update and tour at Saint Michael's Medical Clinic, which provided eleven million dollars' worth of quality medical care at no cost to uninsured residents of Calhoun County in 2025. Thank you to the dedicated team led by the ever resourceful Nanette Johnson Mudiam, the Board, medical partners, and supporters of this wonderful ministry of healing.

Big fun supporting the Lady Gamecocks as they defeated Middle Tennessee in five innings (13-3), we hope en route to a Conference-USA Championship. Missing from the photo are Tom Harmon and granddaughter Audrey who had to leave a bit early and others who wanted to present but had other commitments. One of our Foyer Groups sponsored a tailgate beyond the right field fence and invited the whole St. Michael crew to break bread with them. Coach Julie Boland suggested if the sermon were shorter on Sunday, people at church could hurriedly make their way back after church to McGinnis Field for Game 3 in Middle Tennessee series. ❤️

It was a joy to meet James and Jenifer Noble descendant (via George) Dorothy Hollingsworth of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, en route to a Judson College Class Reunion.

Though today was Ms. Hollingsworth's first visit to Anniston and The Church of St. Michael & All Angels, her knowledge of the Noble family and Anniston's rich history are impressive.

It would be interesting and fun if descendants of pioneer residents assembled here for a special gathering.

In Memoriam
JOHN WILSON MINTZ
1979-2026

"I am Resurrection and I am Life, says the Lord.
Whoever has faith in me shall have life,
even though he die.
And everyone who has life,
and has committed himself to me in faith,
shall not die for ever."

O God, whose mercies cannot be numbered: Accept our prayers on behalf of your servant John, and grant him and entrance into the land of light and joy, in the fellowship of your saints; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

We had much fun hosting cyclists riding in the Fuller Center for Housing 2026 Silver Comet-Ladiga Bike Adventure! What a delightful, interesting, and committed bunch of people, who stayed overnight with us at St. Michael & All Angels and shared their faith and stories with us.
Hopefully we will see them again.

We especially appreciated Anniston City Councilwoman Julie Moss coming to welcome the group and speak about so many positive things about our beloved city.
