The message this Sunday is: “Look to the Lord in Times of Trouble”, from Psalm Chapter 55. For our early note takers the points are:
(1) Distress of many kinds causes us to call out to the Lord — our enemies threaten us and cause suffering, anguish, terror, fear, and horror.
(2) When we have problems, we want to escape — “If I had the wings of a dove, I would fly away.” It makes you want to fly to a place of safety.
(3) We want God to attack the wicked — sometimes are very upsetting as in David’s case, a close friend has become an enemy. There is no hurt like a church hurt — it’s hard to lose a close friend.
(4) Let God judge the evildoers — I will seek the Lord, I will call out to Him many times a day and He will rescue me from distress.
(5) God judges every heart and hears every word spoken and will bring humility to the evildoers — cast your cares upon the Lord and He will sustain you — God holds the righteous close, but breaks down the wicked.
