I try to remember that my attention is an expression of love—and to place my attention where love calls it.

When someone listens to us with presence and attention it is an expression of love.

It is a gift of love I give with every encounter. It is also a gift I give myself —to be more lovingly present in my own life.

So when I ask myself at the start of each day, “What is mine to do” I answer myself “be present, be loving, pay attention—this too changes the world.”

At our last count, Quaker Market raised over $10,000 for some really important causes. We want to extend our HUGE thanks to everyone who came by to shop, eat, and hang out at Quaker Market yesterday. You all truly make this event one of the highlights of our year. We'll (hopefully) see you all again in a few months for the Quaker Spring Market!!!!

Today's the day! Doors open at 9:00 am - hope to see some of you there!!

Enjoy this very small sneak peak of Annapolis Friends Meeting's Quaker Holiday Market!

Friends have been hard at work unloading furniture, clothes, books, appliances, and all manner of knick-knacks and transforming the meetinghouse into one big thrift store. Hurry down THIS SATURDAY (December 6th) starting at 9:00 am to get in some holiday shopping that benefits some incredible causes (some local, like Friends Community School in Greenbelt, and some international, like Gaza Soup Kitchen). We have a ton of stuff that is brand new in original packaging as well as gently-used older stuff for those DIYers looking for a cool project to work on over the holidays. Don't forget to come hungry as the Quaker Cafe is serving up some of the best homemade soups, quiches, treats, and beverages around!

🎶Ohhh, the weather outside is frightful, but the soups and quiches at Quaker Holiday Market are so delightful🎶

Soup season is a serious thing, and the weather forecast for Annapolis practically demands that soup be consumed. Picture it: it's Saturday and it's miserably cold out, but then you remember that Annapolis Friends are hosting the semi-annual Quaker Holiday Market, which means we're serving up fresh, hot, homemade chili, stews, vegetarian soups, and fresh cornbread on the side. Or maybe it's too early for soup - come get a slice of quiche with some homemade stuffed grape leaves for brunch before digging into the best chocolate kahlua cake you've ever had! Enjoy it with a hot apple cider, coffee, fresh eggnog, or even homemade root beer. And then, when you're done, browse room after room full of new and like-new kitchen appliances, furniture, clothes, toys, books, and knick-knacks. And the best part is, all the money you spend on fresh lunch and holiday gifts goes to good causes, both local and international.

From the link below, article by David Brooks: “A person’s way of being human is the most authentic expression of their belief or unbelief. A person’s life speaks more about their faith than what they think or say about God.” I think David Brooks might be a Quaker and not even know it.
