Happy Pride Month, Annapolis! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Today marks the beginning of a month rooted in celebration, visibility, resistance, and love. Pride is a time to honor the LGBTQIA+ leaders, activists, and community members who paved the way — and to continue building a future where everyone can live openly, safely, and authentically.

At Annapolis Pride, we are proud to celebrate our community this month and every month. Whether you are LGBTQIA+, an ally, still finding your words, or simply showing up with love — you belong here.

Spring was definitely in the air today as folks gathered after service to spruce up the church lawn. We didn’t get pictures of everyone but we were grateful for the many hands! On Tuesday , Charting Careers is going to help spread mulch. A wonderful community effort by everyone!

It was a joy to bring Freedom Choir to Eastport. We received this note after today’s concert.

Sunday afternoon, EUMC was the scene of an hour-long concert provided by Freedom Choir, part of the Annapolis Jazz & Roots Festival. Songs of peace and the beauty of the earth, sung in beautiful harmony, put everyone in a relaxed and happy mood. We need more of this! Follow this group whenever you get the chance — they are well worth it!

Join us at Eastport United Methodist Church at 4:00 PM for a special concert featuring the Freedom Choir, an Annapolis-based, non-auditioned community choir that believes singing is for everyone. Whether you’ve spent years in a choir or have never sung a note in public, their mission is simple and beautiful: bring the joy of singing to all.

Part of the international Ubuntu Choir Network, the Freedom Choir doesn’t just make music—they make a difference. Through their concerts, they’ve raised thousands of dollars for local and national charities, turning harmony into generosity.

Founded in 2010 by award-winning musician and vocalist Elizabeth Melvin, the choir reflects her deep musical roots and global influences. From studies in ethnomusicology to collaborations with West African and Caribbean musicians, her leadership brings a richness and energy that you can feel in every performance.

And there’s no better place to hear them than here. Our sanctuary in Eastport is known for its warm acoustics, peaceful atmosphere, and welcoming spirit—the kind of space where music lingers just a little longer.
