"May God bless your family and the gift of song.'

We haven't been as busy with performing this year, with several other things on our plates, but we were delighted to be able to share Eric's wedding-themed song "Let's Bind Ourselves Together" at our daughter's wedding reception last week. She and her other half were a major inspiration for the song. Look for it on our upcoming CD, "Original"!

How do you respond when others do you wrong? Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery, but years later when they came to him for mercy, he gave it to them, saying, "You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good." Paul urged Roman Christians to "bless those who persecute you." More than once Jesus said things like "forgive, and you will be forgiven." Read these Scriptures for yourself, then join us for Sunday service to hear more from them!

Genesis 50:15–21
Romans 12:14–21
Luke 6:36–42

Our hymn of the day is LSB 696: "O God, My Faithful God"

Do you like to be invited to special events or to be a member of an honored group? In this week's Old Testament reading from Proverbs, Wisdom invites us to “come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed." But Jesus reminds us that for many people, the everyday concerns of life can seem more important than even the invitation of God himself. And some people actually hate God's people, as John notes in his first letter. Read these Scriptures for yourself, then come to Christ's banquet of word and Sacrament in the Sunday service to learn more!

Proverbs 9:1–10;
1 John 3:13-18;
Luke 14:15–24

Our hymn of the day is LSB 510: "A Multitude Comes from the East and the West."

For Holy Trinity Sunday we will see how the Trinity is depicted in the Bible right from the very beginning, we'll hear Peter explain how Jesus came from the Father and sent the Holy Spirit after his ascension, and we'll rejoice once again in Christ's promise to be with us always. Take a look at the Scriptures for yourself, then join us to receive the gifts of our Lord and Savior!

Genesis 1:1—2:4a
Acts 2:14a, 22–36
Matthew 28:16–20

Our hymn of the day is LSB 498: "Come, Holy Ghost, Creator Blest."
The psalm for the day's Bible study is Psalm 8.

Sunday we observe Pentecost--often described as the birthday of the Church. God first bestowed his Spirit on people in the Old Testament, notably on 70 elders at once during Moses' leadership. After Jesus' ascension it happened in a big way on the Jewish feast of Pentecost, as recorded in the book of Acts. In John's gospel we hear how Jesus foretold the Spirit's coming upon his followers. Read these Scriptures on your own, then join us as we honor the Spirit who is with us always now.

Numbers 11:24–30
Acts 2:1–21
John 7:37–39

Our hymn of the day is LSB 497: Come, Holy Ghost, God and Lord.
